In my clinic, the answer to this question is very simple: The fee for an office visit is $35.00, but if this is outside of your budgetary allowances, we will agree upon a fee that fits your budget.
During my clinical rounds, I saw the same scenarios that for one reason or another led to someone not receiving the health care that they needed and deserved. I finally got fed up with the sky-rocketing costs for health services; with insurance plans that are costing more and more but are reimbursing for less and less; and with other people dictating the care that patients would be allowed to have. I had finally had enough!
I KNOW that EVERYONE needs and deserves QUALITY health care, but that many are not receiving it due to financial barriers. Most people "fortunate" enough to have insurance have deductibles that are through the roof and end up paying for many services out of their own pockets anyway, especially for wellness and preventive care. Those without insurance generally wait for catastrophic events to occur or for simple dis-ease processes to get so out of hand they can no longer be controlled without invasive intervention.
I want EVERYONE to have access to affordable, quality health care WHENEVER they need it. I want EVERYONE to have access to preventive and wellness care. I want EVERYONE to have access to a doctor that will focus on them as an individual with unique needs and not just as "the psoriasis in room 3" as is prevalent in many health care settings. My system de-emphasizes the cost of health care and re-emphasizes the doctor-patient relationship.
You will have the option of participating in a traditional fee-for-service system, in which you pay the $35.00 office visit charge. Or you may elect to participate in a cooperative fee system where we agree upon a fee that fits your budget.
This system eliminates the financial barriers to receiving quality health care as often as is necessary for you and your family. |
