Duo Maxwell

Duo Maxwell, a Gundam pilot from the L2 colony, was orphaned at a very early age in a time of battle and was taken in by a group of orphans led by Solo. When many of the orphans got really sick, he went to get medicine for them, but he returned too late to save Solo. In his last words, Solo told him that he would always be with him. This nameless orphan figured if they would be together, then he would be duo, so Duo he became.

On his own, Duo did what he had to in order to survive. When he was caught stealing, he was sent to the Maxwell Church. There he was cared for by Father Maxwell and Sister Helen. She wanted to cut his hair, which had grown rather long by this time, and Duo protests. Father Maxwell says he can keep it long so Sister Helen braids it for him, and that's how he's kept it ever since. The school he attended was run by the Federation so there were many children of military personnel; he did well in classes, but he also fought a lot. Pretty soon, all of the orphans at the Maxwell Church were adopted except for Duo so he was adopted by the church itself.

In AC (after colony) 188, the colony was once again turned into a battle field, and the church became a makeshift hospital for the resistance fighters. While the leaders of the resistance talked about needing a Mobile Suit, Father Maxwell rejected the idea and urged them to consider Pacifism. The Father is hit by the butt of a rifle by one of the resistance fighters. Sister Helen gets in front of Father Maxwell and asks them to stop. She also gets knocked down by the resistance fighters. Duo steps in and says that he will steal a MS for them. Very angered by what the Federation was doing, Duo wonders why the wars have come back...everyone hates war right? He returned to find the church destroyed, Father Maxwell dead, and Sister Helen dying ( the first death he cried at was hers, and he took Maxwell as his last name).

It was in the year AC 192 when Duo finally resurfaces. A stow-away on a Sweeper ship hovering on the Moon's north pole, he was caught while stealing food supplies for himself. On this ship he meets Professor G. G was amazed at how such a brat could had broken though his 'flawless' security system. Duo's response was: "I'm not a brat. My name is Duo. I run, I hide, but I never lie." He also called himself Shinigami (God of Death). In AC 195, G gave him the DeathScythe MS he was working on (and had been since AC 180). Duo was trained to use the Gundam for Operation Meteor. After Duo found out about the true purpose of Operation Meteor, he tried to self-destruct the Gundam, but Professor G turned off the self-destruct switch. Deathscythe had been saved for a while. G confronted Duo and told him to steal the Gundam, go to Earth, and fulfill the mission as he saw fit so off went the Shinigami to destroy the Federation and get back the peace the colonies needed and thus begins his story...

Eventually Duo met up with the other Gundam pilots. In the fight against the Alliance and OZ he piloted Deathscythe, Deathscythe Hell, and Deathscythe Hell Custom. Duo is the most upbeat of all the Gundam pilots and is usually ready with a smile, but he takes what he does seriously.

Personally, I just love him. (Who wouldn't love a guy with those eyes, that smile, and a 3 foot braid ^_^' ...ok so maybe it's just me). He has a great attitude, is an awesome pilot, and takes him mission seriously. This god of death, this Shinigami, is just amazing.
