FINAL ANNOUNCEMENT(updated on 19/7/01)
Date : 11/8/2001 (Saturday) 7.00pm onwards for dinner
Venue: The Beach Hut ( at the made made beach)
Mines Beach & Spa Resort, Mines Resort City, Serdang

This is the final announcement for the Reunion Dinner. For those who had yet to inform the organizers , please do so by 26/7/01 so as to enable us to confirm the number of diners attending the dinner. There will be no more changes to the date and venue. We will have a visit to our alma mater - to meet at the Hotel at 2.00 pm ( if you need transport) , or arrange your transportation and meet the rest at the Faculty Main entrance at 3.30pm for a short tour of the Faculty and UMMC - and be back by 6.00pm for the dinner. The dinner will be buffet style and there will be free flow of soft drinks and beer only. There will be no formal programme in order for all to mingle around and catch up with the old times. There will few lucky draws - so do stay late to get the prizes and also to spend more time with your old friends. We hope more will stay over at the resort and enjoy the sea-sports or other games on Sunday morning . The golf game will be over at the Palm Garden Golf Resort - for those who have not registered for the game please contact Chee Horng as soon as possible. We will distribute the Class Directory on the day of dinner, for those who cannot attend and will like a copy , please contact the Organizer for a free copy. Update on 12/3/2001

We have managed to contact more than 80% of our classmates and about 68 have responded , most are from out of Klang Valley and overseas - the furthest is Cheah Teik Ee who is definitely coming, Of course not forgetting Lim Boon Hoe and maybe Kong Kin Leong too. About 62 have confirmed their attendance for the dinner, with some staying the night at the resort. Only 6 regrets so far. We hope that the majority of our classmates who are residing in Malaysia can make this event a successful one.

We have confirmed the venue , which is only about 30 minutes from the City and KLIA. We will be having the dinner at the Beach Hut ( a man-made beach right in the middle of City) - with backup at the Terrace overlooking the beach should it rain on that day.

The rates for the Hotel are reasonable too - RM 240(single) and RM 265(double){Normal rate RM540} with breakfasts for the deluxe chalet facing the lake. I hope even the Klang Valley classmates will stay over and talk about the good old times till the wee hours !! We are also printing a Souvenir Programme cum Class Directory. We are trying to get sponsors such as Pharmaceutical companies, Private Hospitals, your other supplier or even yourself to advertise or insert complimentary messages. The Proceed will channel to Paediatric Critical Fund of UMMC under the care of Lucy Lum. The rates are reasonable, with half-page from RM 250, Full page RM 500 , inside cover RM 1000 and outside cover RM 1500. Do contact the Organizer for further details if you need further information.

Please reply to us either by mail or e-mail if you are definitely coming . Don't forget to enclose the necessary payment to the Organizer ( for dinner only) as we need to pay the Hotel 50% deposit to secure the Venue. Only those who are residing outside Malaysia can made their payment when they are back in Malaysia for obvious reason.

67 have confirmed attending the dinner as of todate. Jayaram & Nor Hayati have volunteered to be the MC for the dinner.

The response of Sponsors to our Souvenir Programme cum Class directory is NOT encouraging. Jit Phoong & Goon Meng Soon had contributed to the Fund , we hope more classmates will do so if they cannot find any sponsor as we need money to print the Class Directory and also contribute to the Paediatric Critical Care Fund.

We welcome Hayati to the Organizing committee. We have received a lot of e-mail from fellow class mates and some suggestions as regards to oraganisation of the Dinner and Social events. We will try to make this Reunion a memorable one and maybe we can have it on a 2-3 yearly basis - said in Penang , then Kelantan , and so on.

For the golfers, we will have a round of golf right at the Mines Golf Club ( if all goes well as planned), other alternatives will be at Sungai Long or Palm Garden Courses nearby- we will leave it to the golfers to decide.

Quite a number are very keen to visit our alma mater - those who are still working in UMMC ( UHKL in those days) will make this event a memorable one. We still have not decide which lecturer to invite - please send your suggested names to the Organizer and we will send our invitation to them.
