Maruchan Ramen

American

When cooking Maruchan ramen you have to be careful not to cook it for too long, or even let it set in the bowl filled with warm ramen broth--it WILL get soggy, and fast (though this makes it great for microwave cooking).

Chili

Spilk: The soup looks and tastes like watered down taco seasoning with some MSG.

Banjo: Tastes like chili, sorta spicy, sorta meaty. I like it.

Spilk: Overall rating = 4

Banjo: Overall rating = 7

Picante Beef

Spilk: Spicy with a pretty good underlying flavor--though I'm not sure I would call it beef.

Banjo: Very spicy beefy fiesta.

Spilk: Overall rating = 6

Banjo: Overall rating = 8

Oriental

Spilk: Strong and well-balanced flavor. Mildly beefy.

Banjo: Mellow, herbal, salty.

Spilk: Overall rating = 7

Banjo: Overall rating = 7

Picante chicken

Spilk: Weak chicken broth drowned in really spicy taco seasoning.

Banjo: I think they added cayenne peppers to a regular packet of chicken seasoning. Not too bad, but it lost points when I tried to drink the soup and the pepper sensation choked me

Spilk: Overall rating = 6

Banjo: Overall rating = 5

Roast Beef

Spilk: Strong citrus flavor, not terribly beefy.

Banjo: Maybe slight beef taste.

Spilk: Overall rating = 4

Banjo: Overall rating = 5

Shrimp

Spilk: Tastes like ass. Like something that one would expect the bottom of a well-worn army boot to taste like.

Banjo: I like the taste of shrimp. Too bad that's not what this tastes like.

Spilk: Overall rating = 2

Banjo: Overall rating = 4

Roast Chicken

Spilk: Chicken broth with a citrus undertone.

Banjo: Tastes like roast chicken. I give it a thumbs up for tasting like what it says.

Spilk: Overall rating = 6

Banjo: Overall rating = 8

Pork

Spilk: Salty meaty flavor.

Banjo: I think pork translates into that tiny packet and back almost as well as beef does. Salty, murky flavor.

Spilk: Overall rating = 7

Banjo: Overall rating = 4

Chicken

Spilk: Very flavorful chicken broth. Pretty salty.

Banjo: Chicken translates from powder to soup better than beef, I think. Not too shabby, the standard ramen I'd say.

Spilk: Overall rating = 7

Banjo: Overall rating = 6

Beef

Spilk: Not bad. Sorta beefy.

Banjo: Sorta beef brothy flavor. Not thrilled about this one, not too flavorful.

Spilk: Overall rating = 6

Banjo: Overall rating = 5
