Entretien avec Phil Devey
31 mai 2001
Thanks for following my career and showing support, it's nice to see that I am not completely forgotten in Quebec. I looked up your website and was very impressed, i put it in my list of favorite sites to visit. Now, let me answer your questions:
1) Until this winter in the Arizona Fall League, i have been used primarily as a starter. But, since the Dodgers have very few lefties in the big leagues, they have wanted me to get accustomed to varied roles out of the pen. I really prefer starting and am glad they are giving me the opportunity to do so in AA. I really believe my future is as a starter, but my quickest route to the big leagues with the Dodgers is definitely in the bullpen.
2) I don't really concern myself with getting promoted, only performing well on the mound at whatever level the Dodgers want me to pitch at. Getting a september callup would be incredible, and i definitely hope it happens.
3) There certainly is a certain level of pride that comes with representing the Dodgers. It is a difficult organization to move up in because of the money spent at the big league level, but a great team to start off in. This year is my rule 5 draft year, so who knows, maybe the Expos will sohw interest.
4) I have played against Deschenes when i was in vero but didn't pitch to him. I will be seeing Laforest soon because they are in our league. I came in to face Papy last winter in the fall league (struck him out). I played against Prata last year in the cal league. The most incredible infielder i have ever played with, and the player without question with the most passion for the game is finally being given a chance to play professionaly. His name is Maxime Poulin, and he is playing in the Northern League for the Winnipeg Goldeyes. Definetely a name to remember and do research on. I have talked to him over the phone recently.
Well, that's about it. Good luck with your website, i will be checking in on my fellow quebecers. Thanks for writing.
