Right in the middle of the Convention Center, there was a great squawking and squealing of girls. Ho-hum.

But this was an extended ruckus. Worth a glance. It was a bunch of girls jumping up and down and making noise. Nothing surprising or very interesting.

Throughout the day, as I passed through that section of the Convention Center, the same girls were there creating the same hubbub. A bit remarkable even in a venue with so many people dying for attention.

Finally, hours later, I approached. There was a group of about 5 girls. 1 of them held a sign that read "Will entertain for money". Was this perhaps the origin of the sign people?

There was a small container of change on the floor. Curious, I asked "Now why would a nice bunch of girls like you be begging for money?".

Hoarse from their long hijinks, they replied "Well, we had $20, but then we went into the Dealer's Room and it was all gone. Now we have no money for food or to get home or anything. We'll do anything for money!"

Rather than take the easy one-liner comeback, I looked at the sign and said "Well, as it is, you've been entertaining all day for free."

I wandered off and after a while I got hungry, so I went to get something to eat. While eating, I was thinking about those goofy girls and the silly predicament they had gotten themselves into.

I felt sorry for them and so I bought a bag full of sandwiches to take back for them. They had certainly worked hard enough all day to earn a meal.

When I got back, they were gone. I ate sandwiches all the next day.
