Pujols Goes First |
Quick Notes The first 10 picks of the draft went mostly as expected: 1. Albert Pujols 2. Johan Santana 3. David Ortiz 4. José Reyes 5. Alfonso Soriano 6. Ryan Howard 7. Álex Rodríguez 8. Chris Carpenter 9. Derrek Lee 10. Chase Utley One interesting
snub was Jim Thome.
Despite his 42 home-run season, he remained
on waivers for a short while before he was picked up. |

The grass has been cut, season tickets have been
ordered, and the teams are set.
Following the conclusion of Sunday’s draft, the teams are now ready to
enter the regular season. As expected,
Albert Pujols was selected with the first pick by
Ryan Irwin and The Great Hambino. However, one of the more interesting picks
of the draft was the selection of Derrek Lee in the
first round. Lee only managed to hit
eight home runs in 2006 but it is rather obvious that Colin Walcavich, the Beavers’ manager, believes Lee will return
to his 2005 form, in which he hit forty-six home runs and knocked in 107
runs. In other note-worthy news, the Jersey Jesters
selected Ken Griffey, Jr. with the 173rd
pick overall. Following his selection,
he was reminded that the year was in fact 2007. John Migliori,
manager, was rather flabbergasted upon receiving this news. He was later rushed to the hospital as he hyperventilated
and suffered through a panic attack after he was unable to find neither
Harold Baines nor Harold Reynolds in the draft pool. He is currently listed as being in stable
condition and should be fully recovered by Opening Day.

“Roe Pitching-Obsessed” |
“Waiver-Wire Frenzy” |
“Dice-K is ready to go” |

Doug
Roe’s squad is loaded… with pitchers.
He invested the greater part of his draft in top-line pitching, hoping
that Johan Santana, Carlos Zambrano, and Brandon
Webb will carry the load for his club.
When asked to comment, Roe stated that he “… saved $500 on his car
insurance.” |
