1999 – 2006 |
IT Architect (and acting Project Manager) for Pearson – an international media company with world-leading businesses in education, business information and consumer publishing; with more than 29,000 employee based in 60 countries. I was initially recruited to mentor the IBM team leads for Intel and UNIX server environments. I remained on the engagement as an architect to draft the technical solutions for all IBM/Pearson contract addendums. I also managed the implementations and deployments of all solutions over $100,000.00 while leveraging the existing delivery teams as resources.
Provided technical infrastructure solutions that met Pearson’s business productivity needs while remaining under budgetary constraints (i.e., Server Consolidation and virtualization with VMware, Microsoft Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2003 Storage Configuration, Data centralization with SAN technology, etc.)
Participate in IBM’s procurement/ordering process, managed vendor relationships for all hardware (IBM, Sun, Apple, Symantec, Group Logic, VMware, Microsoft, etc.)
Managed midrange-system solutions during transition and assisted the delivery teams with technical expertise for new technologies that each solution introduced.
Assist Service Delivery Managers with team lead training and new hires and conduct budget forecasts for server consolidation projects.
Provide 3rd level support for VMware, IBM’s TotalStorage product line, and IBM xSeries hardware (as needed) to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.
Team Lead for Campbell’s Soup – it was the first IBM Global Services contract to utilize strategic outsourcing of information technology. Campbell’s Soup also outsourced their Godiva and Pepperidge Farms IT infrastructure to IBM as well. I was recruited to perform a simultaneous migration and consolidation of their infrastructure environments into a remote IBM datacenter – Vmware ESX Server for virtualization of their mail environment and development. After project completion, I remained on the contract as a team lead for delivery of IT services.
Support of over 150 servers located in Camden and Southbury.

I provided documented reviews for each employee, salaries were reviewed for adequate compensation and bonuses based on performance, career developments for each employee were also a responsibility in this role.
Assist as Project Manager for Intel-based server migrations – included budget forecasting, financial analysis, resource allocation assessments for transition and on-going support, etc.
