Flag Etiquette

  Show your pride in America by displaying the American flag at home. Show your respect for the flag by following the guidelines below.
bullet  Only display the flag between sunrise and sunset. The flag may be displayed when dark outside if it is illuminated.
bullet  Do not display flag during rain or other inclement weather.
bullet  The canton (blue field with white stars) should always appear in the upper left corner whether it is displayed horizontally or vertically.
bullet  The American flag should always be displayed higher than state, city or other flags when multiple flags are displayed together.
bullet  If displaying the flag on a flagstaff, raise the flag quickly and lower it slowly.
bullet  When displaying the flag at half-staff, raise the flag to the top of the pole first, then lower it to the middle of the pole.
bullet  If the flag is worn or damaged in a way that makes it unusable, it should be destroyed by burning it in a ceremonious manner.
bullet  When not being displayed, the flag should be folded by two people in a triangular shape.
bullet  Do not let the flag touch the ground.
