Just when you think you have travelled 5,000 miles or more from Hollywood it smacks you right in the face.  Castle Comb shown next and below was the picturesque village to play Puddleby on Marsh in the 1967 Doctor Doolittle movie.
Several buildings were used in the film along with a few along a stream that the studio dammed up to play the docks.  These poor people probably never get a rest from torists traipsing through snapping pictures and posing.
We decided the next time we come to this area and want to drop a cool $1,000...we will spend the weekend at this lovely manor which occupies the former site of Castle Combe.
A luxury inn, with a golf course, restaurant and more staff per guests than the Ritz.  P.S. They haven't changed a thing on the inside so you can pretend you are a Baron, Duke or Lord while sitting in a wingback chair in front of a fireplace in a panelled library sipping tea.
The picture above is of the Pultney Weir in Bath.  The river is Avon and eventually will snake through Stratford on Avon...William Shakespeare's home.  We stayed here with our lovely hostess Linda and her friend Bill.  Linda is Jo's closest friend and now we love her too.
The pic to the left is the most famous landmark in Bath ...The Georgian Crescent..which were originally townhomes...large townhomes.  Some still are but there is also a hotel in there somewhere.
So here we are with Linda and Bill at a local restaurant.  These two folks are the some of the sweetest and most accommodating hostess and host we know.  Thank you Bill and Linda for sharing your lovely town with us and making our stay so memorable.
The dinners, teas, conversations and friendship made this a fantastic vacation.
In the morning we leave for Paris fo the last leg of our journey .  Can you believe how fast this all goes by??
