Tips on how to improve on the tests in strategic management:
In my own experience the students that do the best on my exams benefit from repetition. They read the stuff before they get in class, they print out my notes, they hear it in class, and then they re-learn it all by preparing summary notes prior to an exam. My hunch about this method is borne out by the following testimonial, given by a student in one of my Spring, 2000 sessions of Strategic Management. I have the student's permission to print this helpful hint.
I just read your message, I can't believe I got a [A]! To answer your questions [about how I studied], I have been reading the material as it has been assigned, because I didn't want to get behind and have to cram in three chapters all at once. I pay close attention in class and write down notes along side of the printed notes.
To be honest I didn't really begin to study until Wednesday. I spent about 8 hours studying Wed. and another 2 hours on the morning of the test. I first went through the class notes , and then reread the chapters and wrote out notes for each. The best way for me to study is to write out the information that I need to remember. I have pages and pages of written notes that I prepared before this test. I just went over, and over them until I felt confident with the information. Like I said writing is the only way I can study, I know that once I write down the information and consciously think about it, I will not forget it. I hope I answered your question. Thank you for emailing me my grade.
