Thorp has several landmarks of rather important significance to locals. The first and probably the most significant is the Thorp Mill.
The Mill was built in 1885. For its time a mill was something relatively new, and the Thorp Mill was one of the first ever.
The mill was originally built for grinding wheat into flour and the like. It was later added onto to extend its service as a lumber mill as well.
I said before the mill was Thorp most significant land mark. It is not however the most important. If you ask any local they will undoubtedly tell you that the 'T&E' is the most important.
There is also a large ranch in Thorp that is a very recent addition. The Lazy 'H' Ranch is a horse breeding operation and has become a main attraction of Thorp. Second only to the 'T&E' of coarse.
