As a rough estimate based on number of postal routes in the area known as Thorp is about 1000 residents.
The town of Thorp is located at mile-post 101, on Interstate-90. However Thorp is not a town at all, it is just a location with a name. It has a School District, a Fire Station, and a Post Office, but no City Hall, or Police Station. The County provides roads, law enforcement, and other upkeep.

These two signs can both be seen as you exit the freeway at the Thorp exit. I think both signs are kind of funny. The picture you see above is a sign showing all the business' in Thorp. At the top of the sign you can begin to make out a nose and maybe even a face, the caption reads: 'Follow your nose to Thorp'.

This is the only grocery store in town. This same building also houses a river raft rental in the summer months from May to October.
