The Lotus 7 was introduced in 1957 and is a light weight, no frills open sports car, designed by Colin Chapman, the man who designed numerous legendary Lotus sports cars with some revolutionary ideas. Graham Hill, who went on to become World Champion, raced a Lotus 7 back in 1958. The Lotus 7 design was sold to Caterham Cars in 1973 (The year I was born) who took over the design and have continued to develop it to this day.
