Steering and Suspension |

The Zcars kit
provides adjustable coil over shocks all round. As the rear is all new
wishbones, this is no surprise. The front retains much of the original setup,
but the standard mini rubber doughnut system would be too firm without the
weight of the A-series in the nose. Zcars provide a coil-over kit to replace
the rubber setup. The steering remains
standard. The advice from Zcars is to retain the standard rack, its plenty
fast enough for the job. For the front end
rebuild I decoded to fit a full set of polybushes to firm everything up. bags of
yellow bushes With the front subframe painted up, next job
was the other suspension components. The tie rods were fairly new and
adjustable, these didn’t need much attention. The upper suspension arms were
in good shape, just needed a rub down, clean and paint. The lower arms needed
attention, but I decided to replace them with new, adjustable ones. This
allows me to alter the camber angle, which should stop the outside tyre edge
wearing away quickly. I had to damage one track rod end to get it off, so a
new pair were fitted. subframe and components ready for
