November 29, 1999 - Monday

Monday.

And not a good Monday either. Slept so badly last night, you wouldn't believe it. I was so angry all night. Kept waking up all pissed off and couldn't (still not) sure exactly why!

Ah, Thanksgiving. Wednesday, Joseph and I went to Thanksgiving at my family's house, where toward the end of the night my aunt Jenny went ballistic on him. Yelled at him like nobody's business about "you're having dinner with your family tomorrow, and if they are inviting Helen you should be leaving with Jenny" yada yada yada...

Thursday, Thanksgiving day, I was in such a funk, cause in the morning Helen called saying "I can come earlier, I don't work, yeah rah" and Joseph had to tell her she couldn't come any earlier cause I was going to be there. It was a mess. I was so unhappy I waited until the last possible second before saying "I don't want to go, I'm going to my gramma's house, call me when you're done" and of course he was really mad, and I was really mad, and the night was trashed.

Friday, i came to work (yep, had to work) and everything went great. Joseph drove me home at 1:30pm, we stopped at my great-grandmother's house and I picked up the perfume my grandmother gave me and we ate at Popolano's. It was a nice afternoon. Then we got back to Lake Station and Helen's van was there, of course throwing me into a tizzy. We prepared to make deviled eggs for heather's party on Saturday but then Joseph got a phone call. His mother was next door and very sick, and they thought they may have to take her to the hospital. So he went over there to be with her (of course I'm pissed cause Helen just happens to be over there...and I feel guilty for feeling angry cause his mother is SICK and what kind of a bitch must I be to be angry he's going over there) and come to find out she did have to go into the hospital. He came down to tell me, and I was crying, because it felt like it just wasn't ever going to end, and he said (trying to be sweet) "I didn't really need my coat, I wanted to tell you what was going on" which really peeved me because that means he had to LIE to his family to tell me how his mother was doing. How wrong is that?

He called me after I was at home, and I went over and spent the night after he came back from the hospital, and Saturday morning he went over to talk to his mother again now that they had released her (dehydration...she went to SEVEN stores the day after Thanksgiving...sheesh) and I just laid out on the couch and watched some cartoons (can't be mature ALL the time!) and I hear the lock in the door and figure it's Joseph. So I pose myself to look my best, and BOTH OF HIS SISTERS walk in the door. I was soooooo mortified! They both laughed and apologized (thank god they weren't offended) and left. I went back to my apartment, and Joseph came over to take me out to lunch. We went to Schoops and he got a page on the way there. He called Helen and she told him that the final divorce papers were in and there seemed to be a small error in the wording of a couple paragraphs. So he told her he'd go over there Sunday morning and look it over with her. I was cool with this. But I wanted to know why I couldn't get one damn "helen free" day since Wednesday. Couldn't she get the "you're not wanted in these here parts hint?" Joseph reminded me I wanted him to go over there and do this since it is regarding the FINAL divorce papers and I agreed. That night we went to the party and everything went fine. Adrian & Heather do a wonderful Thanksgiving party. I highly recommend it to anyone!

Sunday morning, Joseph left me in the comfort of my bed to go over to Helen's house. He came back over at noon. He said there was one error that they corrected and sent back to her lawyer. So it should be over soon. We stopped at Schoops (I really like that place) and then went to the role-playing game. The only person there besides Joseph and me was Matt. It was annoying that no one showed up, so we played outside until 2:30 when Jan and George decided to finally show up and take over the game. Then the other Matt showed up at 3:30, but that's because he had been working, so no one minded.

Sunday night after the game we rented "Coal Miner's Daughter" (the movie about Loretta Lynn's life) and Joseph told me that's what it looked like where he grew up for part of his life. He also told me he'd show it to me someday.

26 days till Christmas. 66 days until my wonderful boyfriend takes me away on a vacation to Miami Beach, Fla. (it can't get here soon enough)
