Chapter 4
"Hey baby!" Leighanne said. All the
way up the elevator she debated wheather to be happed or more scared. She
finally decided to pretend like nothing happened before entering his room.
"I'm sorry," Brian said.
"Don't be, you have every right to be
mad."
"Not at you, or my mom, or my dad, or my brother.
Leighanne you're my wife and you were just trying to comfort me."
"Yeah you're right, apologize to me! You
should be sorry!"
"Thanks a lot!"
She walked up next to his bed and kissed him.
"Brian, I'll always be here for you. I'm not saying this will be easy, but
it will be worth it. Every single part of it I promise."
"I know. It's just scary. The thought of
learning how to walk again, I mean... you always see little babies learning how
and it's just like a miracle. I've already done this. It's gonna be so
frustrating, babies never knew how to walk before then. Not only that, I won't
be able to play basketball for a while, and when I AM able to, Nick will beat
me!"
Leighanne laughed. She couldn't believe what he was saying. Although the first
part had been true, she couldn't believe he was so worried about basketball. At
least that would keep him going.
"Hey," she said. "At least you don't have to do it alone, I was
with you through your heart rehab and I will be here now and forever."
"I'm so lucky to have you!"
"I know!"
"How's Nick?"
"He hasn't woken up yet. I'm sure he will
eventually. Hey your cousins here!"
"Kevin?!"
"No James, I'll get him."
She came back with his younger cousin and his 4
other friends.
"Hey buddy!" James said.
"Hey"
"How are you?" James LANCE Bass asked
(yes from *nsync)
"Alright."
"Oh yeah, *Nsync wanted to make sure y'all
were doing ok."
"That was nice. hey guys."
"Hey Brian," Chris said. "Lance
here told us what happened as soon as your mom called him. He was pretty worried."
"Thanks Lancey-boy," brian said
looking at Lance.
"No problem. Aunt Jackie said you were in
pretty bad shape."
"How are you feeling?" J.C. asked.
"Alright. Thanks. I have a lot of physical
therapy to re-learn to walk again." Brian explained. "I took a really
bad hit in the head."
"Don't worry," Lance said, "I'll
be here for you the whole way."
"Yeah," Joey added, "We'll be
here for y'all. It's gonna be a hard time, but you'll get through it. If you
can get through open heart surgery, you can survive this. It's terrible what
happened to y'all."
"Chris," Brian started, "I
believe Howie's on this floor too."
"Oh," Chris said, "I'll go find
him."
"I think he went to A.J.'s room 2 floors
down. Try there first."
"O.K.," he said as he quickly left.
All of the *Nsyncers felt really akward, but they were there supporting Lance,
and that's what they wanted to do. Even though them and the Backstreet Boys had
always seemed like rivals, they truth was, that because Brian and Lance were
cousins and Chris and Howie were friends, the groups got along quite well.
