Chapter 8
"Hello Brian. My
name is Dr. Fuji and I'll be you physical therapist."
"Dr.
Fuji?!" Brian replied trying so hard not to laugh. "So, you probably
weren't the most popular person in school huh?"
"I'm not
answering that," she said trying to be very professional. As if Brian had
read her mind, he suddenly became very serious as to what she was here to do.
"So how long
will it take?" He asked holding back a tear.
"It all depends
on how serious it is and what kind of pacient you are. Will you be serious or
not?"
"Well of course
I'm serious, I want to get better!"
"I hope you are
because this will not, under any circumstances, be easy. I garantee it will be
frustrating and at many times you will want to quit--" as she lectured him
the only thing on his mind was Nick. Why hadn't he woken up yet? Will he ever
wake up?
"Brian.... BRIAN....," Dr. Fuji yelled. "This is the type of
stuff I'm not expecting from you. We will start as soon as possible. Ok, I'm
going to talk with your parents.ok?"
"yeah,
thanks." was all he said as she left his room.
That night Brian had
a parculiar dream. He dreamed about the accident that night. He could feel the
cold wind hiting his face as he laid there in the grass. His eyes were not
opened, but he saw things. His mind must have subconsiously done something
because in his dream he saw the whole accident. He saw another car involved. He
saw himself get hit and thrown from the car, hiting his head against a tree. He
saw Nick, he was thrown out of the car as well, but he wasn't as lucky, he hit
the pavement. Brian was almost positive he was concious because it seemed so
real, but he saw a person emerge from the other car. There was another person
involved and they were fine. Brian sat there as he watched the person go up to
Nick's body and hit it with his foot. Brian couldn't see anything but his
shadow before the person got into his car and drove away.
Brian awoke drenched in sweat. It was true, there was another person there.
Another person who could have caused it. But there was only one problem, Brian
didn't see who it was. He sat there a while thinking of who could have caused
this and trying to match people to the shadow when he remembered someone who
would know. The person went right up to Nick and kicked him, Nick would have
had a perfect view of him.
"Hey Brian, What are you doing here?" Kevin asked as Brian entered
his room.
"They let me come and see
you because I was complaining too much."
"That would figure. You
always complain."
Brian looked at Kevin as if he
were looking through him. He could tell that Kevin was just as worried about
everything as he was. "Kevin, Can I ask you a question?"
"Sure Bri anything."
"Is Nick gonna be alright?
I mean, I know eventually he will come out of this thing and stuff like that,
but I guess what I'm talking about is.... Well... will he ever be the
same?"
"Brian, you know I don't
have that answer. You of all people should know that sometimes certain things
effect people in different ways."
"Yeah."
Brian couldn't gain up the
strength to ask Kevin about his dream. It had been so weird. Somewhere tucked
away in the back of Nick's mind, knew who had done this to them. He also needed
to talk to Jamie, but where could he find him?
Brian had so many thoughts
running through his head, he could bearly keep them straight. Then Joey and
Justin walked into the room. *Nsync, he remembered what Jamie told him. He
thought about it, but then shook the idea from his head. No. From what Brian
could remember from his dream, the guy was not the same figure as any of the
*Nsync members. But there was still something there, a feeling in his stomach,
he couldn't stop thinking about.
"What?" Brian said as he overheard Justin's and Kevin's conversation.
Everyone looked at him.
"I was just telling Kevin
that I've got to get going because I have some personal things to take care of
back in Tennessee."
Justin explained.
"Will the other guys stay
here?" Brian asked.
"Of course," Joey
said. "We told you, we're here for you guys. And I don't think Chris or
Lance are ready to leave."
"Oh... Um... I'm gonna be
going back up to my room, K kev?."
"Yeah, that's fine, you
look a little pale anyways." Kevin said.
"Do you need some help
Brian," Joey offered.
"Yeah, that would be
great."
"I'll be right back,"
Joey said pushing Brian's wheelchair towards the hallway.
