Chapter 14

Two Months Later

Melissa's View

The dreaded day is approaching so fast for me.  I have gotten weaker and weaker as every week has passed by and I don't know if I can hold on much longer.  The doctor's still are giving me till March which is about 8 months away, but I don't know if I can hold on till tomorrow even.  I am packing to go to Florida to spend a few weeks with Nick and the guys.  Andrea's doctor agreed to let her come with me and I can't wait.  We have become good friends and shes gotten better to the point where she was able to leave the hospital.  I also found out that the room I was in, was the room I would return to and Andrea later told me that it was her death room.  We have come to call it that since we both have come to accept whats going on.

"Melissa!  Andrea is here and hurry up we are going to be late getting to the airport."  I heard my step-mom say.  I grabbed my cd player case and the CD's I had out and ran out my bedroom door.  I checked one last time and made sure I had everything.

"Hey Hannah!  Have you seen my new BSB CD?  I can't seem to find it."  I asked my mom about the Black and Blue CD.  I had been looking for it for the past week and still can't find it.

"Hunny last time I saw it, you had it in your bag that you had at the hospital.  Did you check that?  I know you don't always unpack everything."   She said and I gave her that "STTTTTOOOOOOPPPPPPPPP" look.

"Never mind its in my cd case thingie."  I said looking through the cds  I had in there.  I had about 25 and then my cd player.  I was so excited about this trip and Andrea never lost the big griefy grin on her face.  I bet she was just happy to be out of the hospital too, but we were going to have sooooo much fun and I knew she was ecstatic about all this and so was I.

Few Hours Later

Andrea's View

"Melissa!  Come on!  I don't want them waiting in the airport for an hour while you are taking all freaking day."  I said yelling back at Melissa cause she was taking her time getting into the main part of the airport.

"Andrea a few more minutes won't kill you or them."  She said picking up the pace finally.  She looked a little pale in the face, but I thought that was just from the plane ride here or something.  I didn't want to say anything to make her mad and so we proceeded to walk out of the tunnel and into the terminal area.

Josh's View

"Mom what time was the plane getting in?"  I said getting worried that it was about four hours since Andrea and Melissa left.

"Josh calm down.  They were going to call when they got to Nick's house, and he lives about 90 minutes from Orlando or so.  Just relax a little bit."   Dawn said.  I went back up to my room and finished my homework.  I was worried about Melissa cause it has been only a week and a half since shes been out of the hospital, but the doctor cleared her to go on this trip and Andrea too, but you have that gut feeling everytime that something might happen.  Its just something I have come to live with these past few years.

Meanwhile At The Airport

Melissa's View

"Andrea!  Are you coming or are you lagging behind?"  I said turning around and finding her behind me now.  She was complaining about me earlier doing that so what is her problem?

"I am coming I dropped my purse and so I had to grab it and got stuck behind some people.  Talk about some one who needs to chill out."  She said running to catch up with me.

"Andrea you know that Nick is one of the most impatient people on earth, now come on."  I said grabbing her arm and dragging her along with me.

"Melissa I don't really know him so how the heck am I suppose to know if hes impatient as you or not?"  I stopped and turned around.  She didn't just go there.  For an 12 year old she had alot of scarcasim in her, I thought.

Nick's View

I have been standing here for the past 30 minutes waiting and I can't wait much longer.  I am about to turn around and leave from the airport.  They were suppose to be in about 30 minutes or so ago and just now saw people getting off the plane.  But no sign of them.  The one big major thought that kept passing through my mind was that something happened to one of them and they didn't get to come.  Thats the only thing that scares me and plus Melissa's dad and step-mom aren't that good at informing us of her illness.   We have to call and find out most of the time.  I just hope this time nothing happened.
