Give each child a plate. Demonstrate to the class how to cut 1" slits into the plate's rim at intervals of approximately 1" apart. (Cutting about 16-18 slits) Cut a long piece of yarn about 5' and tie a knot at one end. Have child insert the yarn into a slit, with the knot at the back of plate. The child will bring the yarn across the front of the plate to the slit on the opposite side, put the yarn through the slit, then bring it under the plate and come up through the slit next to the starting point. Have children to continue weaving in this manner until all the slits have been used. Tie off the end of the yarn behind the plate. Have children cut petels out of construction paper and then glue plate. Cut leaves and stems out of constrution paper and glue on back. Variation: Glue cotton ball scented with cologne on top of weaving. Give children sunflower seeds and have them glue them to the front of plate. |

Have children glue muffin paper cup to a piece of construction paper as the flower. Have them cut leaves and a stem and glue that under the muffin paper cup. |

Give childern a piece of paper and put a puddle of paint in the middle. Then give children a straw and have them blow the paint in different directions. Then they can paint the stems and leaves. |
