Growing Plants
Lyrics and Music: Benjamin and Freya Goldstein
Verse 1:  We're working in the garden with
                old Farmer Brown,
             Hoeing  around, hoeing around,
Smoothing out the soil and preparing
                  the ground
              So the seeds can grow.

Verse 2:  Lots of little worms are under ground,
              Wiggling around, tunneling around,
Breaking up the clods in the hard,
                 hard ground
              So the seeds can grow.

Verse 3:  Now it's time to scatter the seeds,
              Planting them in rows
Pat the soil down over them
So they won't blow away if a
                rough  wind blows.

Verse 4:  The little seeds are lying hard and round,
Dry and round, under the ground.
Gentle showers of rain come pouring                            down
               So the seeds can grow.

Verse 5:  Each little seeds puts out a shoot,
A little green leaf, a tiny white roots
They grow and grow and before you
                know-
They're corn and tomatoes, beans and
                  potatoes.

Verse 6:  Now the sun is shinning, nice and hot.
That makes the little plants grow a lot.
All this lovely sunshine sure hits the                           spot-
             Makes the garden grow.

Verse 7: The farmer comes and picks the weeds.
They're taking up space the garden                               needs.
The weeds have really got to go
If we want to make the garden grow.

Verse 8: Now at last its to pick the crops.
Put them in the pot, stir it up a lot.
Cook it for an hour and make some stew
                 For me and you!

The Magic Seed
Lyrics and music:
Heather Forest
Introduction:  Big plants grow from tiny seeds,
                    Whether they're trees or flowers
                         or weeds,
Or vegetables in a garden row,
                    Little seeds can grow, grow,
                      grow, grow, grow.

Spoken:  Let's pretend you're a flower seed. First
decide what color flower you would be.
Then curl up and pretend to plant your-
self in the ground. You'd have to wait
until there's just enough water in the
soil, and it's warm enough, and then...
             you'd start to grow!

Verse:  If your wiggling toes were roots in the                       ground,
They'd stretch and spread out all
                  around.
If your arm were a little green sprout,
It would reach up through the ground
                and pop out!
Then it would reach up tall toward the
                sky
And grow leaves (pretend your hands
are leaves) and buds by and by.
And then finally, after a while (open
                  your arms wide),
You'd blossom into a flower as bright as
                  a smile!
            'Cause it's magic, it's a magic seed.
             It's amazing- it's amazing indeed.
Just gilve it the right amount of warmth
                     and water and sun.
Before you know it, the growing has
                   begun.
             Those little seeds you sow
             Can grow, grow, grow,grow, grow!
                      (It's magic.)
