Eugene Arod Shirreffs & Betty Mary Herbert I have never met Betty but have heard many good things, gramps (my father inlaw) talk about her all the time. I know he loved her and missed her very much. My gramps....he has been good to me since the first time Rand and I got together. I felt accepted from the start. I remember the day he called me at home just to tell me he was having a bowl of rasberries with cream, he went on to tell me how good they were and that he was not sharing. Gramps and I both love rasberries, and I would always buy some when he came out to stay for the weekend, but he loved to tease me when he had some at home and didn't have to share with me. Gramps was always there when we needed him, he never judged, just helped. The last Christmas we had together was the best, I have never seen gramps have such a great time. He was down for the week and enjoyed everyday he was here. We had Gramps out for allot of Christmas dinners but this one was the best. He ate sooooo many cherry chocolates that it made him sick for a day, we told him no more chocolate but we know he was smeaking them because no one else was eating them and they where all disapearing. I love you Gramps and I miss you..... He married Betty Mary Herbert on November 20, 1943 in Weston, Somerset County, England. Eugene and Betty raised three children, Diana Mary, Janice Rose, Randall Eugene. |
