Manny Legace was D man for the Wings, as he completed the game 31 saves for his second shutout of the season with a 3-0 victory over Dallas Saturday. Despite the score, the Red Wings played sloppy but Dallas didnt convert on any of their power plays.
Kirk Maltby, and former Star Brett Hull and Darren McCarty scored to give Detroit a bigger lead in the West to extend its season-best unbeaten streak to seven games keeps their lead over th Colorado Avalanche in the Western Conference.

Derian Hatcher ( former Dallas Star) assisted on Maltby's goal and played in his first season game against Dallas since signing with the Detroit Red Wings during the offseason.

Dallas, trying to win another Division title and battling San Jose for it, was sadly unable to beat the Red Wings this season, going 0-3-1 and hasn't won one in Joe Louis Arena since the 2001-02 season.

Dallas had a huge number ofscoring chances throughout the game, especially in the opening period but Manny Legace to make the stop.

Stars captain Mike Modano beat Legace with a minute to play in the game, but the goal was disallowed because it came after Dallas was whistled for an illegal play which was to many men on the ice.

Manny walked into the season as the Wings No. 3 net minder between the pipes. Dominik Hasek and Curtis Joseph are not playing because of injuries.

Hull was alone in front of the Dallas goal, he received a pass from Jason Williams and pushed the puck between Dallas goaltender Marty Turco legs.

Maltby posted one up for Detroit, scoring three minutes into the second period with his 12th of the season.

It was Maltby's 100th career goal overall.

McCarty registerd an empty netter with 16 seconds remaining, when Dallas pulled their goalie to get an extra man advantage bud still didn't convert.

Captain of the Red Wings Steve Yzerman played only one shift because he was sick with the flu.

Dallas now heads to Chicago to face off with the Hawks tomarrow at 2:00PM.

The Blackhawks responded on Friday with a 4-3 win over Washington, after being defeated 6-4 by New Jersey.

Ruuttu turned his second goal of the game into a game winner on Friday night.

Munro stopped the game with 27 saves for his first NHL victory.
