From the Minister's Desk

Happy people are fun to be around. The cheer you up, even if you don’t want to be cheered. That pertains to church as much as it does to the work place or at home. Cheerful people look at the bright side of the situation. They see the cup half full rather than half empty. They are looking at how well things have gone rather than things could have gone much better. The reason I’m bringing this up is that we have a lot of happy people at DTCC and I’m glad to hear them talk. They can’t help but cheer you up and help you to focus on what is really right with us instead of how much we need to change.

As an example, the board meeting this past Sunday was one that I wish all of you could have been at. We had close to 50 who were present and they heard one good report after another. The budget for calendar year 2000 was better than anyone could have expected. The programs were overall very good. And the new member additions were up to expectations. The board was very complimentary of each other and I think they had a right to be. Any time an organization sets goals for the year that are aggressive and they achieve those goals they need to be congratulated.

This year looks to be even better than 2000. My hope is that we will surpass last year and that we are on the verge of becoming a large medium church. Thanks to all of you who have given of yourselves so unselfishly this past year.

As we continue to grow we need to remind ourselves that we have many visitors who within the first five minutes have developed an opinion of our congregation. I hope that you all are looking out for these people and will make a real effort to welcome them into our fold. Once again, I look forward to worshipping with you this Sunday.
