December 18, 2001

How does a person do justice in writing about the wonderful service that we had last Sunday.  Our choir was in full voice as they sang song after song.  What made this occasion so special was the accompaniment by the musicians.  There were 11 people playing two violins, a viola, a cello, a double bass, a trumpet, two French horns, a flute, and the organ and piano.  Out of that group six were our own!  Laura Huff on the viola, Melody and Natasha Ramsey on the French horns, Karen Carpenter on the flute, and Eddie Byrd on the keyboard, with Michelle Brown on the piano.  What a musical group we have.  I am so impressed with the talent that is in this congregation.

As I watched Bill Huff directing this group of singers and players, I thought how excellent a job he did.  It was evident that he had command of the music and the respect of the performers.  We owe him a big thanks for putting together such a wonderful program.  In addition to the playing, we had Ginger Moore sing a solo and later during the offertory Laura Huff sang.  What more could we ask for than what we received last Sunday?

But that is not the end of our musical talent.  Not by any means!  On Sunday evening we have the SALT service where there is a different kind of music.  Paul McDade plays the drums, Jennifer Wallace plays the keyboard, Bill Sisk is lead guitar, and Wes Sisk is bass guitar.  Shannon Hoard is an excellent soloist and is learning the guitar.  This group does a very fine job of leading us in a contemporary service of worship.  There are usually mid 50's to mid 60's in attendance and everyone enjoys the Café Praise afterward thanks to Rainy Lowery who is the host.

Thank you all for your time and effort in bringing us the best in music and worship every week.  Let us not forget this next week when we are asked to bring our Christmas Gift for Christ during the worship service.  This has been a tradition for many years at Decatur Trinity Christian Church.

I want to take this time to thank the untold numbers of you who have wished Karen and myself safe passage as we leave for Sun City, Arizona.  Your support is greatly appreciated and we will not forget you as we minister to a sister church.  For those of you who get out to Phoenix, please give us a call and let's do lunch some time.

To all of you with Christian love-

          Scott
