From the Minister's Desk
You may have read the Disciple magazine's article this month What Would Jesus Do? (Finding deeper meaning behind sound-bite Christianity). Too often we as disciples have a tendency to toss out the baby with the bath water. This question of what would Jesus do has been published and republished. The question has been asked untold times by small children through the elderly. And because it has been used so much there is the tendency to downplay the significance of that question. And yet that is exactly what we are to do- ask ourselves "What would Jesus do?"
Much to our surprise, if we really give it up to Him the answer can be overwhelming. As most of you who know me are aware, I am a rather compulsive individual. I have always believed that with hard work and a sharp mind I could accomplish most anything. I haven't given God enough credit for guiding me through those paths of life that could have ended in destruction. I am learning slowly, but I hope steadily, that God is the answer to all my problems and it is He that I should consult first before going in any direction. So I like that phrase "What would Jesus do?" I have put that to the test recently and found that the results are astonishing! Jesus takes care of things like I could never do. He makes the biggest problems become little problems. He opens up doors that appeared to be closed. He opens up minds that were once closed. He helps churches to grow and prosper when He is in control. It has been exciting to watch Jesus at work in my life and in the life of DTCC.
I'm not going to tell you about what my plans are because they really don't count. I will tell you that if we listen and pray we will know what God's plan is for us and when we follow His plan we will see wonderful things happening at DTCC. Many of us have already given God the praise and the glory for showing us the way.
Let's celebrate this Sunday as we worship together in the name of Jesus. I have no doubt that this is what Jesus would want us to do.

MEET OUR NEW MEMBERS
Since they’ve been attending SALT regularly since June, most people thought they were members. Sunday evening at SALT, Johnny and Caralyn Brown came forward to officially join DTCC and to transfer their membership from Winchester Heights Christian Church. Johnny is an electronics technician for the US Postal Service where he repairs and maintains the sorting equipment. They began visiting SALT last summer because Johnny works Sunday mornings, and they wanted to attend church together. They also enjoy the contemporary sound and relaxed worship style.
Caralyn recently completed training at Plaza Beauty School. She is a nail technician at Richard & Company in Cordova. The couple has a blended family. Johnny, Jr., 20, is stationed in New York with the US Army. Amanda, 19, and husband, Daniel, have a five-week old son (the Brown’s first grandchild!). Donald, 17, and Kevin, 12, live at home and frequently visit DTCC with their parents. Please welcome the Browns.
