From the Minister's Desk
Last Sunday two things happened in the life of DTCC. It was the first Sunday of the Lenten Season. Second, it was Youth Sunday. Ordinarily, I wouldn't think that those two go together well. Probably because most adults do not give much thought to the meaning of the Lenten Season, at least in the Disciples tradition, and our youth would have even less of a clue about this time in the Christian calendar. What a pleasant reminder of what the youth can do when guided. They did an outstanding job of leading us in worship. They helped us realize that Lent, when speaking of the Easter Season, wasn't some thread hanging on a coat or dress. It has to do with reflecting on our lives and being in a state of Penitence for the many ways that we have failed our Lord. It is looking at how we can do things better in His Kingdom in order to bring people to a knowledge of the risen Christ.
Thank you young people for not only doing an excellent job of leading us in worship, but for showing us that the future Church is still strong.
This coming Sunday I will be "back in the saddle" and will be preaching from Luke 13:31-35. I will be asking the question "How often do our plans have anything to do with God's plan for us?" I hope that you will make the next five Sundays at DTCC a part of your life. Not only will you benefit from attending, but those you meet will also benefit. I look forward to worshipping with all of you this week. And while I'm thinking of it, don't forget that we have an evening service that offers a great deal to everyone who attends. We have several people who only come to the evening service and this would be a great time for you to get to meet them.

AGAPE CLASS
Ok So it’s really hard for you to get up an hour earlier to get to Sunday School. You really think that one extra hour of sleep makes a difference. But what if . . . you knew you could capture something of value during that pre-church hour of small group study! What if . . . you could learn how to "break through to the Blessed Life"? Beginning this Sunday (Mar. 11) for the next six weeks the Agape Bible Study Group will be looking at "The Prayer of Jabez" by Bruce Wilkinson. This little book sold over 1 million copies last year. Praying this prayer is changing lives. (go to prayerofjabez.com) If you’d like to be a part of this experiment in prayer, if you’re seeking a way to stretch your relationship with God, please join us 9 A.M. IN THE AGAPE CLASSROOM. Call Patsy if you need a book. It’s only a six-week commitment. What if…???
MEETING SCHEDULED
The World Outreach Department will meet on Tuesday, March 13, at 7 p.m. in the Conference Room. See you then!
