Morton Salt has printed on their salt containers, "When it rains, it pours." They show a girl with an open umbrella standing under a deluge of salt. If you were at church last Sunday you would have an idea what pouring is. The rain began earlier in the morning and would come and go. Then some 30 minutes before worship service was to begin, the rain began to pour. And I mean pour! Unfortunately, it didn't stop raining until fifteen minutes after worship began. This kept some of our members home who probably would liked to have come because it was Pentecost Day and it was the Rev. Bob Williams Day.
The service was good and several people commented on it, but what made the day was the gathering afterward to celebrate Bob and Jane's ministry. Although Jane didn't get the focus that Bob did, I can assure you that without her support he would have had a very difficult time succeeding in ministry. It was really nice to see so many people show up to say "thank you" to both Bob and Jane Williams. There were many nice things said about them and every one of them deserved. Thank you both for the years of service you have given to the Church and especially the years of service to DTCC. We look forward to our continuing fellowship with you both and we covet the knowledge you bring to the table of Christ.
For those of you who intend to give to the Pentecost Offering, this Sunday we will be collecting again. Last Sunday's offering was $664. This is one of five yearly collections that goes to Basic Mission Finance that we support.
Summer is upon us and there are going to be many of our people traveling. Let's remember those who are away and pray for safe trips and if you are in town I hope that you will make your presence known among the flock during worship service. Otherwise, I will see you this Sunday as we worship together in His house.
Your Pastor

NOTE OF APPRECIATION
Thanks to everyone who helped with all the food brought to Aunt Mae’s home. It was sure good and really appreciated. Thanks to Dot & Harold & Bob for their services to her and all the help. She was a wonderful Aunt, Christian and a friend to all. She is missed so much. Thanks to Rev. Pricer for his services, I thought the service and all the flowers were so nice.
Love,
Phyllis Langdon and Family
I’d like to thank both our ministers, Bro. Scott & Bro. Bob for their visits to me, at home and in the hospital during my illness. And all the other members of the church including the Carpenter’s Crew for their phone calls, cards and visits.

SUMMER BIBLE STUDIES
Phillippians, Paul’s letter of joy and encouragement to a group of new followers at Phillipi, was written from Paul’s house prison in Rome. Yet it spills over with phrases like "Rejoice in all things". It is a letter written to a specific group 2000 yrs ago, still relevant to us today? Is there a secret to being content and joyful, regardless of circumstance? Visit the Agape Class and find out for yourself! Join us this summer for a study that could change your life! Sundays 9:15 a.m. Agape room. Patsy Keith, teacher.

WELCOME NEW MEMBERS
(continued from last Visitor)
Along with those listed in the last newsletter, the following three young people were also baptized on Easter Sunday.
Mairi Stockton, 10, is the daughter of Linda Gibson and Dave Stockton. Watch for Mairi when it's time to purchase Girl Scout Cookies; she's always happy to take your order! Mairi has been active in the scouting program since she was small. She's a member of Girl Scout Troop #192 that meets at our church. Mairi, an only child, enjoys all church activities , especially Friday night Skating. She also likes Girl Scout camp outs, and traveling. She is looking forward to playing with her friends this summer, reading mystery books and watching her favorite TV show, "Rugrats". Mairi says her favorite school subject is science and she wants to work with animals when she grows up. In August Mairi will begin her 5th grade year at Altruria Elementary.
Kalie Pilon, 8, will be entering the 3rd grade at Shady Grove Elementary this Fall, where her favorite subject is Math. But she also likes "vocab" and recess. Kalie, daughter of Karen and Rick Pilon, says she thinks she might like to be a teacher when she grows up. She loves animals and helps take care of her many pets, including 2 dogs, 1 cat, 1 hamster, 2 fish, and 2 birds. Kalie's plans for the summer include swimming at Bryce's (Western) house, playing with friends, and watching one of her three favorite channels, WKNO, Nickelodeon, or Cartoon network. Oh, and she loves pepperoni pizza!
Brittany Duke, who will turn 11 on June 21, enjoys sports and outdoor activities. The soon-to-be 6th grader at Elmore Park, plays softball with the Ellendale Little League and says she plans to be part of the 11 & 12 year old DTCC girls' basketball team next season. She attends Sportscare Day Care and loves gymnastics. She hopes to attend a gymnastics camp this summer. Brittany was invited to DTCC by her friend, Tiara Lowrey several months ago. Brittany says she loves everything about her new church home, especially S.W.A.T. on Sunday afternoons. The daughter of Beth and Gary Duke, Brittany says she might like to be a veterinarian or a singer when she grows up.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Brittany's mom, Beth Duke, also placed her membership at DTCC in March. Beth is a Quality Control Specialist at McKesson Drug Company. she grew up in Memphis, and graduated from Frayser High school in 1983. Beth says that she stays busy with her job. When she isn't working, she's catching up on housework or taking care of the children. Both Brittany and her brother Justin, 15, are active in summer softball leagues, so mom also runs a busy taxi service! Beth was invited to DTCC by Rainey Lowrey and is transferring her membership from East Frayser Church of Christ. Beth says she enjoys working with children and hopes to be able to help in Sunday School and with Children's Church. Please welcome the Dukes and add their names to your church directory.
