Directions are given for 6 months.  Changes for sizes 1, 2 and 3 are in parentheses
BODICE---Right Back.... Starting at lower edge, ch 35 (39, 43, 45) to measure 4 " (4 ",  5 ", 5 ") inches.  1st row: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across.  Ch 1, turn.  2nd Row:  Sc in each sc across, increasing 2 (2, 2, 4) sc evenly spaced?to inc 1 sc, make 2 sc in 1 sc.  There are on row 36 (40, 44, 48) sc.  Ch 3, turn.  3rd row (right side): Skip first sc, dc in next sc and in each sc  across.  Ch 1, turn.  4th row: Sc in each dc, ending with a sc in top of turning chain.  Ch 3, turn. The 3rd and 4th rows constitute the pattern.  Continue to work in pattern until piece measures in all, ending with a dc row  1 (2, 2, 3) inches.  Ch 1, turn.
To Shape Armhole:1st row:  Sc in next 30 (34, 38, 40) dc.  Ch 3, turn.  2nd row:  Skip first sc, work off next 2 dc as 1 dc (1 dc decreased), dc in next sc and in each sc across.  Ch 1, turn.  3rd row:  Sc in each st, decreasing 1 sc at end of row.  There are on row 28 (32, 36, 38) sc.  Now work without decreasing until piece measures from first row of armhole shaping, ending with an sc row 2 (3, 3 /12, 3 ) inches.  Ch 3, turn.
To Shape Neck:  1st row:  Skip first sc, dc in next 15 (17, 21, 21) sc.  Ch 1, turn. 2nd row:  Sc in each sc across, ending with a sc in top of turning chain.  Break off.
Left Back...Work as for Right Back until piece measures in all, ending with a dc row 1   (2, 2, 3) inches.  Turn.
To Shape Armhole:  1st row:  Sl st in each of first 6 (6, 6, 8) dc, sc in each dc across, ending with an sc in top of turning chain.  Ch 3 turn.  Continue to work in pattern, decreasing 1 st at end of next row and at beginning of following row.  Work without decreasing until piece measures from first row of armhole shaping, ending with a sc row 2 (3, 3 , 3 ) inches.  Turn.
To Shape Neck:  Sl st in first 13 (15, 15, 17) sc, ch 3, dc in each reaming sc.  Ch 1, turn.  Next row:  Sc in each dc across, ending with sc in top of turning chain.  Break off.
FRONT... Starting at lower edge of center panel of skirt, ch 54 (60, 66, 74). 1st row:  Dc in 3rd ch from hook and in each ch across.  Ch 1, turn.  2nd row:  Sc in first dc, work off next 2 sc as 1 sc (a dec made), sc in each dc to within last 2 dc, work off next 2 sc as 1 sc ( another dec made), sc in top of turning chain.  Ch 3, turn.  3rd row:  Skip first sc, dc in next sc and in each sc across.  Ch 1, turn.  4th row:  Sc in each dc across, ending with sc in top of turning chain.  Ch 3, turn.  5th row: Repeat 3rd row.  Repeat 2nd to 5th rows incl until there remain 32 (36, 40, 44) sc.  Work in pattern without decreasing until piece measures in all, ending with a dc row 8 (9, 10, 11) inches.  Ch 19 (21, 23, 23).
Bodice...Drop loop from hook, attach a 2nd ball of thread to top of turning chain at other end of row, ch 18 (20, 22, 22).  Break off.  Pick up dropped loop and turn.  1st row:  Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, increasing 2 (2, 2, 4) sc evenly spaced, sc in each dc across, sc in each remaining ch, increasing 2 (2, 2, 4), sc evenly spaced.  There are on row 72 (80 , 88, 96) sc.  Work in pattern without increasing until piece measures from first row of Bodice, ending with a dc row 1 (2, 2, 3) inches.
To Shape Armholes:  1st row: Sl st in each of first 6 (6, 6, 8) dc, sc in each dc to within last 6 (6, 6, 8) dc, counting the turning chain as 1 dc.  Ch 3, turn.  Continue to work pattern, decreasing 1 st at both ends of each row until there remain 56 ( 64, 72, 76) sts.  Work without decreasing until piece measures from first row of armhole shaping 1 ( 2, 2 , 2) inches.
To Shape Neck:  1st row: Work across 16 (18, 22, 22) sts.  Work over this set of sts only until piece measures from first row of armhole shaping, ending with an sc row 3 (3 , 4, 4) inches.  Break off.
Skip 24 (28, 28, 32) sts on first row of neck shaping, attach thread to next st and work to correspond with other side of neck.
Skirt--side Fronts and Back... Sew side seams of Bodice.  Working along opposite side of starting chain of Bodice, attach thread to first ch on left front next to center panel.  1st row: Sc in each ch across to center back edge, increasing 16 sc evenly spaced.  Turn (back opening)  2nd row:  Sl st in first sc, *ch 2, dc in next sc, ch 2, sl st in next sc.  Repeat from * across, ending with dc in last sc.  Turn.  3rd row:  Sl st in first dc, *ch 2, dc in same place where next sl st was made, ch 2, sl st in next dc.  Repeat from * across.  Turn.  4th to 9th rows incl: Repeat 3rd row.  Break off.
Attach thread to first ch at opposite edge on center back.  1st row:  Work as for first row at opposite side, ending in ch next to center panel.  Work as for 2nd to 9th row.  Do not break off at end of 9th row.  Turn.  10th row: Work in pattern across this side of Skirt, continue in pattern across other side of Skirt.  Now work across entire Skirt in pattern until piece measures from waistband 8 (9, 10, 11) inches.  Break off.
Sleeves... Starting at lower edge, ch 53 (57, 61, 65). 1st row: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across.  Ch 3, turn.  2nd row: Skip first sc, dc in next sc and in each sc across.  Ch 1, turn.  3d row:  Sc in each dc across, increasing 4 sc evenly spaced.  Turn.  3rd row:  Sc in each dc across, increasing 4 sc evenly spaced.  Turn.  4th row:  Repeat 2nd row of Skirt.  Now repeat 3rd row of Skirt until piece measures in all 1   (2, 2, 2 ) inches. 
To Shape Top:  1st row: Work in pattern to within last dc.  Turn.  2nd row:  Sl st in next 2 ch and in next dc, * ch 2, dc in same place where next sl st was made, ch 2, sl st in next dc, Repeat from * to within last dc, Turn.  Repeat 2nd row 4 times more.  Break off.
Block to measurements.  Sew side edges of Skirt to sides of center panel.  Sew shoulder and sleeve seams.  Gather top edge of sleeves to fit armholes. Sew in sleeves.
PLACKET AND NECK EDGING.... 1st row: With wrong side of work facing, sc closely along edges of back opening and around neck.  Ch 1, turn.  2nd row: Sc in each sc around, decreasing 1 sc at each cornier on front of neck.  Break off.
Sew 3 snap fasteners evenly spaced on back opening.  Sew a hook and eye at waistband.  Cut 2 pieces of ribbon long enough to reach from back waistband over the shoulder and down the front to lower edge of skirt.  Sew ribbon in place.  Sew 2 bows on waistband at front and back as illustrated.
