EMBRYONIC DEVOURMENT

DT: When and why the band was formed?.
ED: EMBRYONIC DEVOURMENT was formed from the ashes of Ye Old Skabbard, a Death Metal band about filthy pirates pillaging and murdering. Guitarist Lauren and myself had been playing as a 2 piece band for a while after many failed attempts at finding a reliable 3rd member.
As the music got more brutal we agreed to change the name and lyrical style. In January 2003 EMBRYONIC DEVOURMENT was formed. About 6 months after the name change, former CIRIBUS members Austin Spence and John Helvete joined the band, Austin on bass and John on vocals. The band was finally taken seriously with a full lineup and quickly gained recognition in the Northern California Metal scene in the U.S.A. for playing brutal Grind and always giving a good show!
About 6 months after joining Austin Spence left the band to play drums in a side project, and vocalist Johnny Helvete quickly took over on bass duties as well as vocal duties. Now we are a more solid lineup than ever before...ready to brutalize anywhere, any time.

DT: Your current line -up?.
ED: Lauren Pike- Guitar, vocals
Johnny Helvete- Bass, vocals
Luke Boutiette- Drums

DT: Youre fave beer?.
ED: We have many local breweries in our area that make the best beer and ale in the world. DOWNTOWN BROWN is good, and so is ANCHOR STEAM Ale.

DT: Your best North American band from ever?.
ED: I have to say that my personal favorite North America bands right now are DEEDS OF FLESH, ORIGIN, and probably CRYPTOPSY. 

DT: Do you like the old Heavy Metal?.
ED: I liked it when I was real young, but an older Metal head in school introduced me to real Death Metal and after that I was strictly into Death/Grind. Both of the other members have been into Metal for longer than me. John likes most forms of Metal and Lauren is strictly Death/Grind like me.

DT: What do you think about Satanism?.
ED: Not really into it, but I despise all forms of religions.

DT: Do you like Black Metal?.
ED: Not really, but I like Nile, and some might say that
Nile is kind of borderline with the synth sounds, eh? 
But not in general.

DT: What is the gender of PIKACHU?.
ED: It's a big mystery where we come from. Do you know something we don't? ha ha!

DT: Do you drink MILO with blood?.
ED: Not to my knowledge...

DT: Do you practice necrophilia?.
ED: Not to my memory... haha

DT: Your musical productions?.
ED: Juan Urtega from TRIDENT STUDIO in Northern California U.S.A. did a fucking killer job on our first pro recording!! It is a 5 song demo entitled "Beheaded by Volition". Before that we had a couple home recordings that are not worth mentioning due to poor recording quality.

DT: What do you know about South American Scene?.
ED: Not much I'm afraid...but what I do know about is brutal as fuck! BRUJERIA kicks ass, but other than that I'm kind of uneducated...John might know a little more than me. I would like to know more... I know that Holocausto Canibale has a brutal as hell album cover, but unfortunately have not had a chance to hear the sounds yet so I can only judge what I have seen...

DT: Are you into drugs?.
ED: No, we want to progress as much as we can musically. Brutal Death Grind only of course! too much drugs can slow you down.

DT: Do you like weapons?.
ED: Just those electric shocker thingies.

DT: Do you have T - shirts availables?.
ED: Not yet, but we will soon. We have the design and shit, just gotta find a good local shirt dealer. We do have some merch available on the website www.deathgrind.tk but we have a better design that will be available soon.

DT: LUKE, do you have STAR WARS action figures?...MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU, USE THE FORCE LUKE !!!
ED: Thanks man I sure will!!! ha ha! No, no STAR WARS toys. Sorry to disappoint you.

DT: Are you anti - homosexual band?.
ED: We don't like fags but we don't sing about it or anything.

DT: Do you prefer MACINTOSH or PC?.
ED: Haven't tried the new MAC yet so I don't know. We live in a world without choices my friend.

DT: Your future plans?.
ED: About to go on a mini-tour from Seattle Washington USA to Portland Oregon to all over California to Las Vegas Nevada and back home to Northern California!! 
Planning on recording a full length with 10 songs on it most likely. That might not be for a little while. We are considering doing a split CD with MUMMIFICATION on IGNITE RECORDS in the meantime. Have not yet confirmed on that.

DT: Your last growl for DEATHTHRASHER readers?.
