Interview for DEATHTHRASHER MAGAZINE by ARMANDO MUTILATOR :

It was Armando? I guess that's you right?

Anyway here's the interview! :

DT: When and why the band was formed?.
FA:
The band "Fallen Angels" with the recent line-up was formed in the winter of 2002. I, my brother and my cousin had played together in a couple of years before that in a Power / Heavy Metal band called "Tunes of Silence". But it was not until the summer of 2002 we left that sinking ship and formed a new project. Later on that project became FALLEN ANGELS with (except us three) a total new line-up.

DT:
Why the name of FALLEN ANGELS?.
FA:
The name FALLEN ANGELS was a symbolic name for us since it represent the change from Power Metal to Death Metal. We implemented radical changes in our musical direction and I don't think that step can be better symbolized then just FALLEN ANGELS.

DT: What topics do you consider in your lyrics?.
FA:
From our latest Demo "Black Lotus" the lyrics was all about the strong feelings that impact your whole life and existence when you either loose someone or something very loved in your life. This whole lyrical idée was crafted out of one sir ten moments in my life; when I found myself in the situation of supporting a good friend of mine when she lost her father in cerebral hemorrhage. She always cried out at my shoulder and I observed the feelings that ravaged her whole life and ripped big wounds in her soul.
All those lyrics had all a very down to earth story line but they where written in such sophisticated way so they didn't get boring. But on our next release I wanted to try something total different and I have studied the story of sin wars (Heaven vs Hell) to make a bit more fictional approach to our lyrics and also give the band name FALLEN ANGELS some meat on the bones.

DT: Your influences?.
FA:
Up to date I must say our biggest influences would be DARK TRANQUILLITY and CHILDREN OF BODOM. But with or recent material we didn't want to limit our music so we have moved away from those melodic death metal boarders to explore unclaimed ground and make a little more unique approach.

DT:
What do you know about South American Metal Scene?.
FA:
Not much actually. I know about ICED EARTH, CANNIBAL CORPSE. I have got the impression of that you have lot of Metal Core and Neo Metal coming from there.

DT:
Do you like STAR WARS?.
FA:
Embarrassing enough I have to admit that I have all STAR WARS movies up to date and I'm also looking forward to Episode III in a near future hehe. Guess it's something that has followed me since I was a child and I can't just get rid of it.

DT:
What do you think about extra-terrestrials? Do you believe in that?.
FA:
Haha and I thought the STAR WARS question was a weird question. No I don't believe in aliens but I enjoy watching X-Files every now and then.

DT:
Are you into S&M?.
FA:
Haha in your wet dreams! Sorry to disappoint you but I can't say I am hehe

DT:
Do you like GIGER's Art?.
FA:
I love the art of H.R. GIGER. The merge between mechanical and genetic factors in his dark artworks is awesome. I also like his way of hiding meanings in his art. Sometimes his art just look pointless and suddenly you realize what you're actually looking at and get this blow right in your face! As I'm into art myself I often get inspired by his work. I recall when I was young I did countless sketches of his Xenomorph design.

DT: Talk me about your discography.
FA:
Our first release was named "Fall from heaven" and it was a garage recorded demo. It was actually recorded in my apartment with very, very primitive methods. We created this baby just to take our music out of the rehearsal room and demonstrate our new sound. After all much had happened since "Tunes of silence" and we where pretty eager to wash away the old stamp. The response was very good actually even though the bad sound quality.
After that event our composer Roger created three more songs for our debut studio demo. The new material was improved in every way and had a more professional approach. Then the rehearsals kicked off. At times it actually felt like we lived in that rehearsal room but this was necessary consider we have booked the famous studio Studiomega (THE CROWN, BESEECH, ARISE, ANATA etc.) The recording session was a great experience and everything went fine. The outcome of this was the demo "Black Lotus".

DT: Do you know about "MACHU PICCHU" ruins & "NAZCA´S lines"?.
FA:
Never heard of it?

DT:
PC or MACINTOSH? Do you know STEVE JOBS?.
FA:
PC of course! I have owned a PC since the 486 model. I know it was 33MHz and spanking new at the market hehe. I rather eat my left arm then to use a Macintosh, never liked there ways. Never heard of STEVE JOBS either?

DT: Are you into PS2, GAMECUBE, X-BOX? or any VIDEO GAMES? Do you remember ATARI 2600?.
FA:
I have owned video games since NINTENDO 8-bits and I guess since that I have owned every popular video game at the market.
I bought a PS2 at the European release some years ago and I recently bought a XBOX, so my honest answer on the question is YES I'm into video games, I'm very much into video games in the matter of fact hehe! And yeah I can recall some ATARI memories.

DT:
You´re future plans?.
FA:
Considering the band the goal is to sooner or later get signed by a decent label. But for the moment our full concentrations goes to the new material for our upcoming demo "Extinction" and I must say the work we have done this far with these new songs really spank the living hell out of everything we ever written! So I recommend you to hold thigh and visit www.fallofangels.com daily to keep yourself updated.

DT:
Any last comment for your most brutal fans?.
FA:
Hell is where the heart is...
