DT: When and why the band was formed?.
I:
Back to 1989 the band was founded under the banner of MORTUARY from Mario Schauer - the only remaining original band member - and some other guys to satisfy their lust for Metal, beer and tits. There is nothing more to say because during the first months of our band's existence it was more a drinking project than a professional working band.

DT:
Why do you change your old name, MORTUARY? Why the name of IMPURITY?.
I:
I don't really know why the original band members chose this name but I think they chose it because it sounds great and has a morbid meaning. The change into IMPURITY happened due to some enormous line up changes during the first months of the band's existence. Likewise the change of the band's name should signal a new beginning and stands for the worldwide impurity of old cultures and convictions through Christianity and other religions.

DT: Do you listen MORTUARY (Mexico), MORTUARY (France), MORTUARY (Russia), etc?.
I:
I'm informed about the existence of the French and Mexican band but I've never listened to their music.

DT:
What topics do you consider in your lyrics?.
I:
In general our lyrics are metaphoric or lapidary stories about Satanic themes and of course our aversion to all hypocritical religions and their followers. Other topics are Vampirism and ancient blood rituals but these lyrics are relicts from our old vocalist and won't be used in our new songs.

DT:
What do you think about STAR WARS?.
I:
I really like the old "STAR WARS" trilogy but I think the new prequels are a little bit too spiritless and not dismal enough. Of course the technical aspect is fascinating but that's not enough for a really good story.

DT:
Your fave bands?.
I:
My absolutely heroes are MANOWAR because for their endless Metal attitude and their musical superiority. Some other great bands are DEICIDE, DISSECTION, AMON AMARTH, IMMORTAL, DARK FUNERAL, HYPOCRISY, MARDUK, CANNIBAL CORPSE, MORBID ANGEL but it's not possible to mention all of them.

DT:
Are you into gore movies?.
I:
Yes, sometimes I also watch gore or splatter movies but in general I'm more into psychological horror movies or thrillers.

DT: Tell us about your "RELIGION" Demo.
I:
It was our first official release but I'm not able to give more information about it because I wasn't a band member when it was recorded. And unfortunately I've never listened to it. But it was more into the Death Metal vein than our new material.

DT:
Do you like DISASTROUS MURMUR?.
I:
Yes, I like their music and specially their old stuff very much but I don't know the people behind these albums very well. Some years ago we've played some gigs together but in general it was an impersonal relation to them.

DT:
Your musical productions (include rehearsals, demos, etc)? And your best productions?.
I:
Our official band releases are the "Religion" Demo tape, the "Blasphemy" MCD / EP and our first full length album "Bloodbath massacre" on CD. And some years ago we've especially recorded two songs for the "Look like you compilation" but some months later these songs also have been re-released on our first album. Likewise we've recorded the "At the gates of dawn" MCD but it has never been released due to our vocalist change and so it's still not an official IMPURITY release.

DT: What can you tell me about your work on "LOOK LIKE YOU COMPILATION"?.
I:
It only was a regional music sampler with bands from different music genres. Due to the reason that we were the only Metal band on it, this sampler really isn't a very interesting output.

DT:
What do you think about ANTON LA VEY (RIP) & CHURCH OF SATAN?.
I:
Of course he was one of the most famous Satanists in history and many are still influenced by his theories and his Church of Satan. With some other individuals he was one of the greatest precursors for Satanism and its values.

DT:
Are you friends with COCHINO (PUNGENT STENCH)?.
I:
Not really, because I personally don't know the band members very well but I like this band's music.

DT:
Are you into Soccer, what do you think about the Coach HERBERT PROHASKA and the legend HANS KRANKL?.
I:
Yes, I'm a great supporter of soccer. And of course the two mentioned men still are one of the greatest Austrian football legends and by the way Herbert Prohaska was our head coach some years ago. In present Hans Krankl is Austria's head coach but in present our team is in a very bad situation and he has got the difficult exercise to form a new team. Beneath the Austrian team I'm totally into the English football team because of their endless fighting attributes and their great football art.

DT:
Are you into Serial Killers? What do you think about the most famous Austrian Serial Killer JACK UNTERWEGER?.
I:
Yes, in general I'm informed about the most famous serial killers like Bundy, Gein, Dahmer, etc. and of course I'm also informed about one of the most famous European serial killers in present - Jack Unterweger. It's a little bit macabre that an Austrian killer made headlines in worldwide newspapers.

DT:
What do you think about H.R. GIGER's art?.
I:
For me he's one of the best artists in present because no one is able to copy his dark and mysterious style. And of course his covers for CELTIC FROST or DANZIG are legendary artworks.

DT: Do you like American PIT BULLS? Do you support Dog Fights?.
I:
In general I like animals very much because I grew up with animals all the time and so I also like dogs and of course Pit Bulls too. And due to these instances I can't support dog fights because it's nothing else than cruelty to animals.

DT:
Which was the best audience you ever play for?.
I:
For me the best audience we've ever played for was on our gig in Graz / AUT on the 15th of February 2003. It was a really awesome experience to play for such crazy motherfuckers. Another great audience was in Mikovice on our small tour in Czech Republic in autumn 2003.

DT:
Tell me about your "BLASPHEMY" (EP).
I:
It was our second official release and it was in the same vein than our "Religion" Demo tape. And due to the reason that Mario is the only remaining band member from that recording session I'm not able to give more information about it.

DT:
DEICIDE or DISSECTION?.
I:
Shit, a really hard decision and I'm really not able to decide between these two great bands because both of them are counted among my favourite bands.

DT:
Your 10 Best Albums from all the times?.
I:
It's not really possible to make a ranking for my favourite albums because too many great albums have been released and so I'm not able to decide what place they deserve.

DT:
Do you like old Heavy Metal? Your best 5 Heavy Metal albums from all the times?.
I:
Of course I'm into old Heavy Metal. Like so many others I grew up with bands like MANOWAR, IRON MAIDEN, JUDAS PRIEST, BLACK SABBATH, DEEP PURPLE, W.A.S.P., SAXON and many more in the 80ies and 90ies. Nevertheless I won't do such a list again but for me the best Heavy Metal albums for all the time have been written by MANOWAR. Nothing more to say…!!!

DT:
What can you tell me about your "BLOODBATH MASSACRE" CD?.
I:
It was our third official release and it was the first professional release of IMPURITY. With this album the band became a name to deal with in the Austrian Underground scene and it was a first step into professionalism. Of course it has nothing similar with our new material or our present line up but it's still a very important release in our history.

DT: Beavis & Butthead or The Simpsons?.
I:
A hard match again because I like both of them. Finally I would prefer "The Simpsons" because the German translations of "Beavis & Butthead" aren't really good enough.

DT:
Tell me about your MCD "AT THE GATES OF DAWN".
I:
It was our first recording session after the split of the "Bloodbath massacre" line up and it was the band's final step to a more Black Metal influenced style. The band finished the first recording sessions for that MCD in May 2002 but it has never been released because the band changed its vocalist in December 2002. After that we've decided to record the whole album again and so it will be finally released in Spring 2004 with more songs and our new vocalist. In present we're still working on this album which will be also named "At the gates of dawn" in the "Neo Dawn Studios".

DT:
Have you ever consider playing in this part of the world? (I mean Perú).
I:
Of course a South America tour including some dates in Peru would be very interesting for us but such a project depends on many factors like money, promoters and so on. But if there are would be some really serious intentions and proposals from Peruvian promoters we would be ready to crush your stages.

DT:
DISASTROUS MURMUR or DISHARMONIC ORCHESTRA?.
I:
A difficult decision between two Austrian Death Metal legends which have released really good albums in the past. Due to the reason that DISHARMONIC ORCHESTRA changed their style totally I would prefer DISASTROUS MURMUR.

DT:
Do you know about IMPURITY band from Florida and IMPURITY (Bra)?.
I:
Yes, I'm informed about the Brazilian band but I've never listened to their music. The existence of an American band named IMPURITY is new to me.

DT: What do you know about Peruvian Underground Scene?.
I:
Nothing special - I know some South American Death Metal and Grind Core bands but I'm not really sure from which countries they especially come from.

DT:
TOLKIEN or STEPHEN KING?.
I:
J.R.R. Tolkien and no discussion at all. He is my favourite author and his books like the "The Silmarillion", "The Hobbit", "The lord of the rings - trilogy" or "The forgotten tales" are legendary literature. Of course Stephen King is also a very good author but nothing against J.R.R. Tolkien.

DT:
What do you think about ALEISTER CROWLEY?.
I:
Like La Vey he's one of the most important pioneers of Satanism and of course many Satanists comply with his views and rules.

DT:
Are you into drugs?.
I:
I sometimes drink alcohol (beer) and I smoke normal cigarettes (Lucky Strike) but I don't take hard drugs. In my opinion hard drugs are only for weak and stupid persons but the will get what they deserve.

DT:
Your fave Book of DEAN R. KOONTZ? Do you read "ICEBOUND"?.
I:
My favourite book of this author is "Darkfall" and my second band is named after this book. Nevertheless I don't know the book you've mentioned but I think it's named different in German.

DT:
Tell me about your experience with SODOM, BELPHEGOR and HYPOCRISY please.
I:
Sorry, but I wasn't a part of IMPURITY when we've played with these bands on the "Metalfest Vienna 2002". But I know that our drummer talked to the guys of HYPOCRISY and that he's in contact with some members from BELPHEGOR.

DT:
Do you know MAMPE (DISASTROUS MURMUR) and "PIT BULL" JACK (former PUNGENT STENCH)?.
I:
Like I mentioned before we've played some shows with DISASTROUS MURMUR in the past but there wasn't a really personal relationship between us. I also know him from my second band DARKFALL but we aren't really good friends at all because I don't really know him very well. The only fact I know about the other guy is that he was a member of PUNGENT STENCH and that's all.

DT: Tell me about KALTENBACH OPEN AIR / Spital am Semmering - July 11th - 12th, 2003, do you play with Swedish Gods, DIABOLICAL, do you know VIDAR WIDGREN?, he is a good friend !!! .
I:
Alright, it really was a great festival with great bands and a totally crazy crowd. And it was a great experience for us to be a support band for such bands like ENTHRONED, DIABOLICAL or DESASTER.
No, I don't know the persons behind DIABOLICAL but I think our drummer knows him because he was one of the organisators of this festival.

DT:
Do you like AC/DC?.
I:
Yes of course and I think that there are a very important band for the whole Metal scene because of their legendary albums like "Back in Black" or "Highway to hell" and for still holding up the banner of old school Heavy Metal.

DT:
How was your experience in METALFEST VIENNA 2003 - Wien - Arena - Open Air - August 23th - 24th with bands like SAXON, BLIND GUARDIAN, PARADISE LOST, IN FLAMES, DESTRUCTION, LACUNA COIL, NAPALM DEATH, AMON AMARTH, BORKNAGAR, etc...
I:
Like on the "Kaltenbach Open Air" it was a really great experience for us to be a part of such a big event again. Nevertheless we had a little bit of bad luck because we had to play on the Underground stage at the same time as IN FLAMES played on the main stage. So our crowd wasn't really numerous at all but it still was a great weekend for us.

DT:
Your Future Plans?.
I:
During the next weeks we'll finish our recording sessions for our new album "At the gates of dawn" and we hope that it can be released in March 2004. After the release we'll play some shows in Austria and other European countries like Germany, Czech Republic or Slovenia. Compared with these activities we'll try to find a serious label which will release or upcoming stuff.

DT:
Your last comment for DT. Readers?.
I:
Check out our website www.impurity.at for news and watch out for our new release "At the gates of dawn" in Spring 2004.
And to you many thanks for your support and for your very interesting questions.
