Interview for DEATHTHRASHER MAGAZINE by ARMANDO MUTILATOR :

DT: Did you ever play under the name of LORD BELIAL? of did you use any other before? ... if so why the name LORD BELIAL?.
LB:
The name of the band has always been LORD BELIAL, and will always be! Before we started LORD BELIAL, we had some other bands before this but nothing worth mention.

DT:
Define yours style? ... Have you ever played the same style?.
LB:
We play Black Metal, but if anyone would like to call it some other style... we don't care. Of course our style has changed a bit through the years, as a natural progress.

DT:
What topics do you consider in your lyrics?
LB:
Death, hate, the war against Christianity, the killing of angels, horror etc... The ordinary Black Metal lyrics I guess.

DT: What do you think about STAR WARS - EPISODE 2?.
LB:
I don't care about Star Wars at all.

DT:
Do you like Old Heavy Metal?
LB:
Some of the old Heavy Metal bands are great.... I am an old bastard you know and I grew up with that kind of music! But I don't like the new bands trying to sound like the old bands...

DT:
Your musical productions? (include rehearsals, demos, etc), and your best productions?.
LB:
The official releases are "The art of dying" DEMO 1993, "Into the frozen shadows" DEMO 1994 (got us the deal with No Fashion Rec), "Kiss the goat" CD 1995, "Enter the moonlight gate" CD 1997, "Unholy Crusade" CD 1999, "Angelgrinder" CD 2002, "Purify Sweden" Picture 7" vinyl, "Scythe of death" MCD (to be released in late 2003) and in early 2004 Regain Records will release the album "The seal of Belial".
We also have released videos to the songs "Into the frozen shadows", "Jesus fails" and "Night Divine". We have not release any rehearsals.

DT: Your fave bands?.
LB:
This is a hard question to answer, since the favourite bands change all the time, but some of them are SLAYER, BATHORY, DIMMU BORGIR, MARDUK, ANGELCORPSE, NILE, OZZY/BLACK SABBATH... and hundreds of more bands J

DT:
What do you think about NAPALM DEATH?.
LB:
They are great! I like their old stuff most but the newer releases are great as well... but it was a completely different feeling on their first releases! Back then it was 110% brutality!!!

DT:
Tell us about your first Official 7 tracks Demo Tape "The Art Of Dying"?.
LB:
It was recorded in a small low-budget studio during 24 hours in 1993, and we were quite satisfied with it since it was our first studio visit ever. The band had only existed for about 6 moths then and we were not that tight with each other, but we could not care less about that... it was just fun to record in a studio for the first time! We recorded it live and just added some solo and vocals.

DT:
Do you consider gore movies horror stuff as an influence to your style and image?.
LB:
No, not actually. We just are this way and the bands "image" is just the way we are.

DT: Into the Frozen Shadows is you best Demo - Tape ?, tell us about No Fashion Label.
LB:
Yes I think "Into the frozen shadows" is better than "The art of dying".
NFR was a really good label in the beginning, but I don't like their attitude at all nowadays. I am very glad that we left them!

DT:
Do you like SODOM?.
LB:
Yes I do! Especially the "Agent Orange" era! Nuclear winter!

DT:
Are you satisfied with your Debut Album"Kiss The Goat"?.
LB:
Yes, I think it is a good debut album, even though the songs were already old for us when we recorded it.

DT:
Do you like JUDAS PRIEST? ROB HALFORD or TIM "RIPPER" OWENS?.
LB:
JUDAS PRIEST is one hell of a great band! I think ROB is the ultimate JUDAS PRIEST singer, but I also think that RIPPER did a very great work for them! It must be very hard for a singer to join a band to replace one of the best singers in the world, so I really respect RIPPER for his work in the band!

DT: Are you a Satanist band? ... what do you think about THE SATANIC BIBLE?.
LB:
We are a band, not a religious bunch of idiots. Some of our thoughts maybe are comparable to the ones of Satanists, but we do not call ourselves for anything... but if we have to put a name of the way we are it would probably be anti-Christ, or maybe anti-religious would be better? Personally I don't need any book to read how I should live my life, and I can think for myself so I don't need any religion at all.

DT:
Tell us about "Enter the Moonlight Gate".
LB:
It was recorded in STUDIO FREDMAN in Gothenburg, Sweden during 5 weeks in 1996 and I think it is a great album, and I think many fans would like to say it is the best album of Lord Belial.

DT:
Are you friends with DAN SWANO?.
LB:
No I don't know him.

DT:
How many gigs, concerts, tours, have you played… Did you ever play in other places besides Europe & U.S.A.?.
LB:
No idea how many gigs/tours we have made......
We have not played in the U.S.A, just in Europe.

DT:
What can you tell me about your Tour with DISMEMBER & DISFEAR in November - 1997?.
LB:
It was totally crazy! A long everlasting party! We really came along with the members in both DISMEMBER and DISFEAR, really nice people to party with!

DT:
Are you into Serial Killers? ... What do you think about "The Night Stalker" RICHARD RAMIREZ?.
LB:
I don't care about them...

DT:
What do you think about H.R. GIGER's art? .
LB:
Great art! So dark and nice!

DT:
Do you like AT THE GATES?
LB:
Yes! Too bad that they quit!

DT:
What can you tell me about your Tour with SATANIC SLAUGHTER in May - 1998?
LB:
We have made a few tours with SATANIC SLAUGHTER and we really know the guys in SS well, and we have lots of fun together on tour! Everything that can go wrong, will for sure go wrong when we tour with SS haha the law of MURPHY!

DT:
Do you like AMERICAN PIT BULLS?.
LB:
No

DT:
Which was the best audience you ever play for?.
LB:
Paris! The club was called GIBUS I think. Totally crazy audience!

DT:
What can you tell me about your "Unholy Crusade"?
LB:
That it is a good album J

DT:
Why NICLAS left the band in November 2000? FREDRIK (MASTEMA) replaced him?.
LB:
NICLAS came to a point where he had to take a break and make other things in his life. FREDRIK joined and he is a very skilled guitarist and learned all the songs really quick.

DT:
What can you tell me about the first performance of FREDRIK in LORD BELIAL at the "2 Heavy 4 you" Festival in Sweden?.
LB:
FREDRIK's performance was 100% that gig!

DT:
FREDRIK recorded with LORD BELIAL in the "Angelgrinder"?
LB:
Yes.

DT:
NICLAS rejoin the band after one year, how was the experience with 3 guitars?
LB:
A massive wall of sound right in your face! 3 seven-stringed guitars at the same time on stage are really brutal!

DT: Why FREDRIK left the band in November 2002?
LB:
He quit because of lack of time.

DT:
Have you ever consider playing in this part of the world? (I mean South America).
LB:
nope

DT:
What can you tell me about VASSAGO & LATEX?.
LB:
VASSAGO plays Extreme Fucking Violent Metal and LATEX plays Bizarre Sado Black Punk! You can visit the bands pages on the web at www.vassago.se and www.latex.info.se

DT:
In this precise moment August 9th 2003, are you in Germany?.
LB:
That gig was cancelled by LB.

DT:
Your Future Plans?
LB:
To release more albums, to play more gigs and go on some more tours, to drink some more beer ... and to have FUN! (Yes, we do have fun even though we are into the blackmetal genre!)

DT:
Your last comment for DT. Readers… where can they find your stuff?.
LB:
