DT: When and why the band was formed?.
Sonny : SEVEN GATES were formed in 2000 after I attended a HATE ETERNAL show. It was a continuation of a previous band SEVENTH GATE I was in the early 90's

DT: Did you ever play under the name of SEVEN GATES? Of did you use any other before? … if so why the name SEVEN GATES?
Sonny : Yes, SEVEN GATES played locally (Erie). We also played the JAMES MURPHY FEST in Detroit (2002), Pittsburgh, Philadelphia and Buffalo. About as far as we could drive. As I just mentioned, I was in a earlier band called SEVENTH GATE. I told the name to my bass player, and he thought the name was kick - ass.. so we altered it a bit.

DT: What topics do you consider in your lyrics?.
Sonny : Subjects on war and catastrophes of the Earth.

DT: What do you think about STAR WARS?.
Sonny : I love it. Very big fan. I even like the new series.. ha ha.

DT: SONNY tell me about your work on INCANTATION, tell me about the last tour with you..
Sonny : Basically, I was a session guitarist for tours. I didn't do any studio work with them. The last tour I did with them was a three week tour of the West Coast and Mexico. Some shows were cool, some weren't.

DT: Your fave bands?.
Sonny : "New" VITAL REMAINS, HATE ETERNAL, NITRO.

DT: Do you like gore movies?.
Sonny : No, I am more of a Science Fiction and War movie person.

DT: Tell me about 29 Fret Double Guitar and your act from JAMES MURPHY.
Sonny : I bought it from MICHAEL ANGELO in February 2002. This is the only double guitar with 29 frets. Currently only two people in the world plat the double guitar, MIKE and myself.
It is very difficult to play because it is two separate guitars and needs two amplifiers, also it weighs a ton!.
Playing it at the JAMES MURPHY FEST was a great experience. Playing it exposed me to many friends and fans who I still keep in touch with today.

DT: Do you like ACHERON?.
Sonny : Some of their stuff is cool and when I lived in Florida I used to jam with MIKE ESTES on occasion. He's a good guitarist.

DT: CHRIS BARNES or CORPSE GRINDER, ROB HALFORD or RIPPER OWENS, BON SCOTT or BRIAN JOHNSON, ANGELA GOSSOW or JOHAN LIIVA?
Sonny : I like both versions of CANNIBAL CORPSE. HALFORD without a question. Neither. Both.

DT: Your musical productions? (include rehearsals, demos, etc), and your best productions?
Sonny : In the process of recording SEVEN GATES first album. A live CD with INCANTATION in New Zealand ..but I think it was scrapped because of distortion. Live CD with PERSEPHONE DESCENDING, but it's not available for release.. not satisfied with the performance. I will be on the next "Fleshitized" CD.

DT: What do you think ANTON LA VEY (RIP) ?.
Sonny : I don't

DT: POSSESSED or DEATH ?.
Sonny : DEATH, but I didn't start listening until "Human" and I was never a POSSESSED fan.

DT: What do you think about Rev. JIM JONES ?.
Sonny : Who?.

DT: What do you think H.R. GIGER's art ?.
Sonny : Very cool, I haven't seen anything recently, though.

DT: Do you like American Pit Bulls?
Sonny : No. My girlfriend's cousin had two. They piss and shit all over the house and busted through the doors and windows.

DT: Which is the best audience you ever play for?
Sonny : Toss up between New Zealand and Mexico. Fans in both countries are dedicated to their music and extreme in the pit.

DT: Your 10 Best Albums from all the times?
Sonny : DEICIDE Self Titled, HATE ETERNAL Conquering the Throne, MORBID ANGEL Gateways. ROB HALFORD Resurrection, PRIEST Painkiller, NITRO OFR, MICHAEL ANGELO Planet Gem., STEVE VAI Passion and Warfare, VITAL REMAINS Dechristianize, MONSTROSITY In Dark Purity.

DT: Your best 5 Heavy Metal albums from all the times?
Sonny : NITRO, DEICIDE, MORBID ANGEL, CANNIBAL CORPSE, MICHAEL ANGELO, I consider him Metal.

DT: Have you ever consider playing in this part of the world? (I mean Perú)
Sonny : Absolutely. I hear great things about the music scene.

DT: What do you think about ALEISTER CROWLEY?
Sonny : OZZY did a song about him.

DT: Your future plans?
Sonny : Release a solo instrumental CD and keeping it ultra heavy. Constructing a lesson website.

DT: Your last comment for DEATHTHRASHER readers?
Sonny : Practice, practice, practice and keep going to shows, fans are awesome.
