Interview for DEATHTHRASHER MAGAZINE by ARMANDO MUTILATOR : 

DT: When and why the band was formed?
U: UMBAKRAIL was born in 1996, this birth doesn't have any occult origins, it is the result of a desire shared by anyone who had a sound perception of life, hates, and extremes. Black Metal always meant this for me : a tool, a musical power, fathoming out and sadly convincing. UMBAKRAIL is my weapon, a vital need.

DT: Your current line -up?
U: I've always been the only member to write, on the first 2 demos "Sacrifice for Moloch", "Beyond Our Myths" also on the "Dome" and finally on the LP "In Unity Paienne", as for "Rendons à césar" the next LP that will be released this year.

DT: Do you remember bands like PENETRATOR and MUTILATED?.
U: Yes, especially MUTILATED.

DT: Youre fave beer?
U: I like beer in general, I don't have a favorite one.

DT: Tell me about your "DOME" (S.W.P. 1999).
U: "Dome" was released in 1999, it was self-produced in the way to find a label to help UMBAKRAIL to promote "In Unity Paienne". It contains 4 tracks, 2 are atmospheric and 2 mi-tempo Black Metal. It was my first production, and I remember it a great one. Usually musicians are complaining about their past productions, according to me these are just parts of a whole and i'll never complain about one of my offsprings.

DT: Your best French band from ever?.
U: Unquestionably Blut Aus Nord. I've never felt anything similar with another french band. Vindsval is a vistuoso of sound hate and this is what makes his music special to me. "Fathers of the icy Age" is, according to me, one of the greatest CD of this kind of music.

DT: Do you like the old Heavy Metal?.
U: Of course, to consider the current music, it is necessary to know the roots.
IRON MAIDEN, KING DIAMOND, MERCYFUL FATE, etc... these bands are basic. I must admit I'm not interested yet in the current Heavy Metal scene.

DT: What do you think about ELIPHAS LEVY?.
U: Nothing because I don't know Eliphas Levy.

DT: Do you prefer MASSACRA or AGRESSOR?.
U: I've seen them both on stage in France. I tend to prefer MASSACRA for their first albums

DT: Do you know who is Reverend AL SHARPTON?.
U: Not at all.

DT: What can you talk me about "IN UNITY "PAIENNE" (DEADSUN REORDS 2001).
U: IN UNITY PAIENNE is the result of a few years of pagan hate. It reflects some parts of my life, a depressed black metal made out of dreams.

DT: What is the gender of PIKACHU?.
U: Pikachu himself.

DT: Do you drink MILO with blood?.
U: I don't drink blood.

DT: What do you know about South American Scene?.
U: I don't know anything about South American scene, except for SEPULTURA of course that i like to listen to. I'm sure I could find something among my cds but I wouldn't lie.

DT: Are you into drugs?.
U: Not at all. But I was, i had to undergo a detoxification treatment. Alcoholism is quite normal where I live though.

DT: Do you like weapons?.
U: I own some, I'm keen on knives. Sharp blades in general. But my favorite weapon still remains my dog Nemesis :)

DT: What do you think about ANTON SZANDOR LA VEY?.
U: I think his "level" is wrong : his "Evil" is my "Good". I don't feel any respect toward this kind of person also as any hate, I believe people need a religious useless and ridiculous leader.

DT: How do you contact with DEADSUN RECORDS?.
U: By e-mail, or by phone, Jean-Francois of DSR is someone worth a lot for what he did for me and UMBAKRAIL.
Our friendship is based on love for extreme musical art. I first contacted him through the production of "Dome" my first MCD.

DT: Are you into INNER CIRCLE?. Tell us about the Anti Semitic Community.
U: I'm not into "Inner Circle", but into a much wider thought, I am pagan and that is all. About anti semitic communities in France, Islamists represent a important part by their acts getting more and more violent. We got to the point where we're infested with non intelligence and where a will of a unique thought is becoming important. Our politics are coward and obviously want us to disappear, I mean that our country identity is disappearing. There are no interest for them in the people or in Europe or anything that touches the

DT: Do you have STAR WARS action figures?.
U: I don't own any anymore.

DT: Do you prefer MACINTOSH or PC?
U: PC, I just prefer them for the lay-out. But working on a Mac is more efficient obviously.

DT: What can you talk me about your "Rendons A Cesar" (DEADSUN RECORDS 2004)?... tell me about your clip Multimedia?.
U: "Rendons à César" will be martial, hateful and strong. I made it as tough as I could and I can't add anything to it. It will be released in 2004, some news and the track "Reflet de Lame" available on http://www.umbakrail.fr.st. About the video it is on the cd : the track "On Blaspheme Mes Rois" from "In Unity Paienne". The video shott lasted 2 days in Normandy et everything else was made in Paris and laste done week. Of course money misses but everything still remains as I wanted it to be : martial, out of time and hatefull. I'm glad of it. Finetrash production helped me to direct it and the result is satisfying.

DT: Your last growl for DEATHTHRASHER readers?.
U: Thanks for your support towards Umbakrail, good luck to you. I'm going on my musical destiny. I hope you'll get "moved" by my tribute to the old ones "Rendons à César".
