Interview for DEATHTHRASHER MAGAZINE by ARMANDO MUTILATOR : 

DT: When and why the band was formed?.
I: The band was initially formed by Ben Garcia (drums) and Curtis Zeissel (guitar) as a thrash band in '89. 
Ramon Cazares (guitar, vox) joined in '94 and I joined in '95. We used to go under the name of DISORDER, but in '99, due to our musical direction and a Punk band already using the name DISORDER, we permanently changed the name to INFLICTION. Pablo Gonzales (vox), joined in 2001. I'd say that we all came together for different reasons, and a few common goals: we all loved the music and its uniqueness and we wanted to get our voice out. The impetus behind it all though was we were absolutely determined to put our print on the scene. 

DT: REYMUNDO tell me about your days on CALAVERA please.
I: CALAVERA was a band formed by my brother and Ramon and I made the third of the trio. We mainly played covers of bands like TROUBLE, PANTERA, IRON MAIDEN, CANCER, and SEPULTURA. 
It was a short-lived thing though and as you can see - it only led to better things. 

DT: Why the name of INFLICTION?.
I: We tossed around a few names and finally landed on this one. At the time, I don't think that there was any philosophy or theme as to why - it just sounded like us and the new direction we were taking. Now I guess we can say that we hope our music inlicts you somehow - haha. 

DT: Your current line -up?.
I: BEN GARCIA - DRUMS

RAMON CAZARES - GUITAR, VOCALS
PABLO GONZALES - VOX
REYMUNDO CAMPOS - BASS

DT: Your fave beer?.
I: COLD BEER!

DT: Your best band from ever?.
I: DEATH AND IRON MAIDEN

DT: Do you like the old Heavy Metal?.
I: YEAH, It's the root of it all!

DT: What do you think about Satanism?.
I: I don't.

DT: Do you play PS2?.
I: YES sometimes.

DT: Do you like Black Metal?.
I: I am limited to my exposure of it but I can say that I do like some. You can here some of it creep into our 
music such as in the "Denouncing the Flesh" track (#5).

DT: Do you like bands like THE EXPLOITED and CHAOS UK?.
I: NO.

DT: What do you think about OSAMA BIN LADEN?.
I: He's a religious zealot with money, crazed followers, and lunacy.

DT: Do you have a dog named BART?.
I: NO.

DT: Do you drink MILO with blood?.
I: No, it tends to make the blood a little to rich for me.

DT: Do you remember DEVASTATION (Gods from TX)?.
I: Heard of them, never heard them though.

DT: Do you know LOUIE CARRIZALES (former DEVASTATION)?. He sing on DEATH's Tour 1990.
I: I don't know him but yeah he was with DEATH.

DT: Do you practice necrophilia?.
I: No.

DT: GARY HOLT or KIRK HAMMET?.
I: CHUCK SCHULDINER!

DT: Your musical productions?.
I: Various demos with INFLICTION, our "TRAILS OF OBLITERATION", & our most recent "DENOUNCING THE FLESH". 

DT: What can you tell me about "TRAILS OF OBLITERATION".
I: TRAILS is as raw as it gets! It's our self-released debut with artwork done by FRANCOIS LAUNET (www.macguff.fr/goomi). This recording was all done in about 2 days and it has no overdubs - so what you get is raw energy from our part. We wanted to take a departure from other death bands in both the cover art and the music and so we hope that it comes across when you see the cover and listen to the music - especially DISINHABIT. We still produce the CD when requested but it is only available on CDR. 

DT: Tell me about your friends PACO FERRER and JIMMY SANTI.
I: Ahhhh Paco, well I always suggest that he get better looking models but that's what he likes and I don't know where Jimmy has been lately.

DT: What do you know about South American Scene?.
I: Not much really. What I have heard, I've liked. We had the opportunity to open up for INTERNAL SUFFERING (from Columbia) - they were SICK!!! 

DT: BEAVIES & BUTTHEAD or SOUTHPARK?.
I: South Park, Looney Tunes, and The Simpsons.

DT: Your 10 faves North American Metal albums from ever?.

DT: Are you into drugs?.
I: No.

DT: Tell me about your experience with bands like MALEVOLENT CREATION, and INCANTATION !!!
I: We got to open up for these guys at two separate occasions as Disorder. Malevolent was before my entrance to this band so I can't say much there. Incantation came up and represented well - damn well. 

DT: What do you think about DON KING?... do you know RON KING?.
I: Don King: crazy hair. Ron King????

DT: Do you know the Finnish band HORNA?... do you know LUCHO HORNA?.
I: No. I haven't heard them - Yet.

DT: Do you like weapons?.
I: Yeah, depends on what they are and how they are used. 

DT: Do you have T - shirts availables?.
I: YES, we will be getting some in soon. 

DT: Do you have STAR WARS action figures?.
I: Darth Vader and a Stormtrooper

DT: Are you anti - homosexual band?.
I: We aren't anti-homo, but we SURE AS HELL don't promote it.

DT: Do you prefer MACINTOSH or PC?.
I: PC

DT: Your future plans?.
I: Tour for Denouncing (hopefully we can get out of the US this time), we are currently working on some plans to go into Mexico and maybe we can bleed over into South America. We are already working on new material so there will definitely be new material out within the coming year. Keep your ears open!
