History 5255 West Lake Blvd.
Ed and Etta Farmer who lived in Folsom CA purchased this property in 1909. Mr Farmer had the Homewood grocery store (Obexer's Market now) and had a house and garage on this property. Mr. Farmer also repaired wagons and the few cars that were here at the time. Mrs. Farmer was a medical doctor and had a practice here.
In 1920 Mr. Farmer developed T. B.; Dr. Farmer kept him here for a year and he was cured. in 1922 they sold the store to Jake Obexer; Jake insisted on getting the house also, so the Farmers converted the garage into a house, which is the present cabin. The original house still stands behind Obexers market. The Farmers added a room on the front for Dr. Farmers office.
When Dr. Farmer died, Ed married Orpha Mugford, a friend Clara Sikes, Jean McBride's mother. Orpha lived here by her self in the summers after Ed died. In 1961 Jean and Sandy McBride bought the property from her.
In 1981 Jean and Sandy moved the doctor's office to the back the lot as a guest house and added the new living room and upstairs bedroom. In 1989 they expanded the back bedroom and added a new bathroom.
