How to format and re-partition the drive in Windows 98 SE and ME Note: If you are running either Windows 98 SE or ME edition, it is recommended that you obtain an updated version of the FDISK and FORMAT utilities included with Windows. The update allows the FDISK and FORMAT utilities to report the correct disk capacity on the screen. Click on "Start", "Programs", "Accessories", and "MS-DOS" 2. You will need to run FDISK from the DOS prompt. 3. Select "Applications," then "Utilities," then "Disk Utility." 3. Select the "Erase" tab. In the left hand column, be sure to select the correct disk to be erased. 4. Select "Mac OS Extended" in the "Volume Format" box and click the "Erase" button. You can select Extended or Extended Journaled. Mac OS Extended (HFS Plus), Mac OS Extended Journaled or UFS (UNIX File System) format. (In some cases you may be required to erase the selected volume.) Unless you have a specific reason to use UFS, you should use the Mac OS Extended and Mac OS Extended Journaled format since it provides a more familiar experience to Macintosh users.
