Auroras

October 29th and 30th 2003 brought unprecedented aurora activity to Long Island. I was unable to stay out late enough to beat the clouds on the 29th - but on the 30th from 7PM to 7:30 PM got some fantastic views!

Though it didn't really come out in the photos - the most startling part of this was that a white pillar of light erupted out of the north, going all the way to the zenith (top) of the sky! It truely was an amazing experience.
