Info
The Dodge Travco Motor Home was built in 1967 and was registered in the USA 29th February 1968 by Sgt. Rudd. He brought the motor home to England and registered it on 10th March 1970. It is 9.15 meters long, 2.41 meters wide (2.71 meters wide including the mirrors) and is 3.20 meters high. It also has a 5.3 litre 318 cubic inch 90 degree V8 engine which was built in 1967. The engine is connected to a 3 speed semi automatic gear box. The engine has been converted to electronic ignition so that it gets more miles to the gallon and it also starts easier. The engine drives a vacuum pump to power assist the brakes, it also drives the power steering. The motor home has 17 inch cross ply tires, and it has drum brakes front and rear. A class 4 M.O.T is required. Because of the size and weight of the Dodge Travco motor home there are laws we have to up-hold. By law vehicles of this size are limited to 80 KM/H (50 MPH). Being over 30 years old the tax is exempt. The style of this motor home is late 1950s, early 1960s. The back is like an old American Air Stream trailer home and the front is like a scaled down Amtrax train. Beige was the fashionable colour of it’s time, so it is Beige with a White band around the outside and it also has a white roof. For more information e-mail us: dtravco@yahoo.com
News
Welcome to the News page! Here we will tell you the latest news to do with the motor home.
Pick one of the events
While we were on our holiday to Scotland, we were traveling to Glen Coe, when we were going down a narrow road. Being left hand drive we can see how close we are to the pavement. So we were as near to the pavement as we could go and a modern coach was about to pass us. As it passed it hit us with its wing-mirror. Want to know the damage caused to the motor home? One wing-mirror ripped off and bent around the window and one door window cracked. Damage done to the coach? One wing-mirror ripped off and big dents all the way down the body. While we were on the way home from Scotland we went up a steep hill, but what we didn't notice was the engine temperature. It got so hot it exploded inside. Since these radiators have not be made for 20 years it is going to be hard to find one that will fit. We could get the old one fixed but at a price around £250. We finaly found a new radiator which came out of a Ford cargo lorrie.
