Hints to Reduce Stress

• Have a regular sleep and meal schedule routine.  Take your medicines correctly.  Missing the essentials can be a signal that something is wrong.

• Have a schedule of activities planned each day: bathe and dress daily; attend positive activities;  reserve some open time for yourself.

• Don’t put it off.  Do it now.

• Know when to say no.

• Keep your conversation light.  Don’t talk meds, diagnosis, illness as your main topics and likewise worries, frustrations or problems unless you have the solution.

• Have a professional, consumer, or friend you trust to listen to your worries, frustrations, problems, and concerns.

• Be positive, open, and honest.

• Most really intelligent people listen most of the time.

• Do at least two things each day which you know will be successful.

• Don’t take yourself so seriously.  Nobody else does.

• Take a mental health day occasionally just for yourself.

• Your have many friends.  Let them monitor you.
