Tumbleweed

Welcome to my little part on the world wide web. I
started this web page on May 13, 1998 not knowing
much about computers, the internet or what I wanted
to do and say with this web page. So after 4 years I
have a direction in which I want this page to go.

This page has become the inner me. The way I would
like everyone that visits me here to understand my-
self better. In making this page over the years I have
become to know myself and the direction I wish my
life to take.

After being born and raised in St. Louis, MO. I
moved to Licking, MO. in 1984. Then in to Rolla
in 1995. It took the move from big city to small
town life, to know when I moved to Rolla I found
the type and size town for me. I know now
everything that happens in our lives has
a reason. After driving a truck both local and
over-the-road for 25+ years, I was laid off my local
driving job I had for over 6 years on February 26, 2001,
with lack of sales given for the reason. Get real!
After spending the summer working on my house
doing some remodeling and spending time with
my 82 year old father I found the type job I enjoy
the most. Wished I had found this job 20 years ago.

"2002"

Now that I am unemployed again
spending time with dad will be
even more special now that he is
89 years old.

YOU GOT IT FROM YOUR FATHER,
IT WAS ALL HE HAD TO GIVE,
SO IT'S YOURS TO USE AND CHERISH,
FOR AS LONG AS YOU MAY LIVE,
IF YOU LOSE THE WATCH HE GAVE YOU,
IT CAN ALWAYS BE REPLACED,
BUT A BLACK MARK ON YOUR NAME, SON,
CAN NEVER BE ERASED,
IT WAS CLEAN THE DAY YOU TOOK IT,
AND A WORTHY NAME TO BEAR,
WHEN HE GOT IT FROM HIS FATHER,
THERE WAS NO DISHONOR THERE,
SO MAKE SURE YOU GUARD IT WISELY,
AFTER ALL IS SAID AND DONE,
YOU'LL BE GLAD THE NAME IS SPOTLESS,
WHEN YOU GIVE IT TO YOUR SON.

Do Fairy Tales Really Come True?

by duane

A fairy tale knight wants to be the very best
A hero looks for a "damsel in distress"
A knight in shining armor, wants to take you away.
A loving maiden with the power to stay.

This maiden must know the true meaning of care,
And be willing, the troubles of life to share.
She must be able to think and to build,
And over our hearts, I hold a shield.

Try to protect us from the storms of life,
And hold my hand through any inevitable strife.
This knight will help us get over our past,
And offer us a LOVE that will last.

A perfect maiden YOU do not have to be.
You only have to cherish and honor me.
Do fairy tales really come true?
Can this knight in shining armor rescue You?

This poem is a revised copy

The Teddy Bear

By Linda H

I found a teddy bear the other day
He told me that someone just threw him away
I listened and looked for a heart that was true
I thought there was a sincerity in you

I wanted to fix all the broken parts.
I wondered just where I might start.
I let you know that I wouldn't throw you away.
That you could have a friend that would stay.

I would listen, and try to give the support you need.
And offer just enough love to plant a seed.
A seed of hope for a future so bright,
That sucess for you would always be in sight.

Your not a teddy bear, to be set on a shelf.
Come down and take confidence in yourself.
Your value in this world is so very high.
Stand up, step out, and reach for the sky.

Heart Scars
by linda m

You wear your heart upon your sleeve
For all the world to see
You hope to hide the broken places,
Scars that run so deep
God always sends someone along
To help heal each new pain
And although healed, your hearts not whole
a small hole still remains
Each passing day, each week alone
The size it does increase
You ask God why and hope to know
A way to find some peace
will there ever be a balm for you
To fill that empty place
to make your heart feel new
again, the old scars to erase
God’s timing is so perfect
Yet often we forget
We loose our hope and being human
Seek our own quick fix
Thank you God, for patience
To see the journey’s end
For what we do not realize is
The way you do your mend
We look to patch or fill the hole
When what we do not see
Is God will take two wounded hearts
And heal them perfectly
God sees your heart as only half
No way it can be healed
Until you find the matching piece
And allow the two to blend

unopened and unread

by Duane

I have no doubt this will go
unopened and unread
as I have sent cards here before
all it be
unopened and unread

I was told this account was
for me and me alone
but rarely with it checked
all things sent went
unopened and unread

I sent words and thoughts
from the heart
many happy
some sad
but they all went
unopened and unread

So little is the chance
this will be seen or read
that the sever it lays within
will delete it both
unopened and unread

Smile

A smile cost nothing,
but gives much.
It enriches those who give it.
It takes but a moment,
but the memory of it
sometimes lasts forever.
None is so rich or mighty
that he can get along without it
and none is so poor that he
cannot be made richer by it.
A smile creates happiness in the home,
promotes good will in business,
and is the cornerstone of friendship,
sunshine to the sad,
and is natures best antidote for trouble.
Yet it cannot be bought,
begged, borrowed or stolen,
for it is something that is of no
value to anyone until it is given away.
When people are too tired
to give you a smile,
give them one of yours.
No one needs a smile so much
as he who has none to give.

LIFE

Maybe God wants us to meet a
few wrong people before meeting
the right one so that when we finally
meet the right person, we will know
how to be grateful for that gift.
When the door of happiness closes,
another opens, but often times we look
so long at the closed door that we don't see the
one which has been opened for us.
The best kind of friend is the kind you
can sit on a porch and swing with,
never say a word, and then walk away
feeling like it was the best
conversation you've ever had.
It's true that we don't know what we've
got until we lose it, but it's also true that we
don't know what we've been missing until it arrives.
Giving someone all your love is never an assurance
that they'll love you back!
Don't expect love in return; just wait
for it to grow in their heart but if it d
oesn't
be content that it grew in yours.
It only takes an hour to like someone,
and a day to love someone but
it takes a lifetime to forget someone.
Don't go for looks; they can deceive.
Don't go for wealth; even that fades away.
Go for someone who makes you smile because
it takes only a smile to make a dark day seem bright.
Find the one that makes your heart smile.
There are moments in life when you miss someone
so much that you just want to pick them
from your dreams and hug them for real!
Dream what you want to dream;
go where you want to go;
be what you want to be,
because you have only one life and one
chance to do all the things you want to do.
May you have enough happiness to make you sweet,
enough trials to make you strong,
enough sorrow to keep you human,
enough hope to make you happy.
Always put yourself in others' shoes.
If you feel that it hurts you,
it probably hurts the other person, too.
The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything;
they just make the most of everything
that comes along their way.
Happiness lies ahead for those who cry,
those who hurt, those who have searched,
and those who have tried,
for only they can appreciate the importance
of people who have touched their lives.
Love begins with a smile, grows with a kiss and ends with a tear.
The brightest future will always be based on a forgotten past,
you can't go on well in life until you let
go of your past failures and heartaches.
When you were born, you were crying and
everyone around you was smiling.
Live your life so that when you die,
you're the one who is smiling and
everyone around you is crying.
