Ducar Will Host Team USA Broadcast
July 26, 2000
by Michael Kaylor

Former UNC All-American goalkeeper Tracy Ducar, a member of the U.S. Women's World Cup team, will host an Internet broadcast of an upcoming Team USA-Norway match.
Ducar will be featured during an interactive chat room and will be able to address viewers' questions as the match is in progress.

The interactive event will take place on Aug. 4 at 12 p.m. (EST) and will be a re-broadcast of the U.S.-Norway match that will be played on July 30 in Norway.

It will be presented by PayForView.com (http://www.PayForView.com), an integrated on-line and off-line entertainment company that distributes sports, movies, music and live events direct to viewers on a pay-for-view, retail and e-commerce basis.

The company will present the men's Beneica vs. Liverpool match on Aug. 5 at 11 a.m.

During the match, Ducar will be part of an Internet presentation that will include live chat and parallel content that will include news, player bios and game information.

"Viewers are starting to desire more interactive entertainment, and we believe that soccer is the perfect sport for this kind of entertainment because it's a non-stop, extremely active sport," PayForView. com's Dan Scott said.

"We think that this will be a great forum for soccer fans to come together and have a true interactive experience."

Scott said that PayForView.com is "pushing the creative and technical envelope" with the broadcast, and feels that Ducar will be the perfect host for this interactive soccer experience.

"We wanted a player with some notoriety, and one who is very personable and enjoyable to talk to," Scott said. "Sometimes we forget that sports are supposed to be fun, and Tracy will make it fun for our viewers."

Ducar was an integral part of three UNC teams that won the NCAA national title, and was a member of two W-League championship-winning Raleigh Wings teams.

Next spring, she will join the Boston franchise of the fledgling Women's United Soccer Association (WUSA), the new women's professional league.

Scott said that PayForView.com will closely monitor how the two interactive soccer productions perform, and the company will produce more if they prove successful.

"I believe that this is just the beginning," he said.
