PETROVIC NJEGOS
The
monument was dedicated
to the great statesman and
praised poet Petar Petrovic
Njegos( The writer od
'Gorski vjenac'). This was
one of the first monuments
made in old
Yugoslavia. the monument was
made by Toma Rosandic. Jovan
Ducic donated this
monument to his home
town,Trebinje, on the 28th
May,1934. The rear
side reads:'To my dear
Trebinje,1934'.
This exceptional monument
was damaged during the Croation
bombing(92-95). |

'To
The Heroes of
Freedom'- this
monument was built on
j.d's project,and was
placed in the same
location as it stands
today on the
09.08.1938. During the
Croation
occupation (during the
2.w.war) the letters
were removed from the
monument and had to be
replaced
according to the
original text
that reads'To Serbs
who died in 1914-1918
for freedom of
Yugoslavia'.
the monument has a
part form one of Ducic's
famous poems
called 'the himn of
the winners'.
