Off in a rather empty area of the Library, Cho silently flips the pages of a book (one that happens to
be a book on Potions). She pauses for a moment on a page, brushing hair behind
an ear as she skims the page. It doesn't seem to be what she's looking for, and
she moves on.
Minerva McGonagall, the head of Gryffindor house and
professor of transfiguration enters the Library, and says a quick hello to the
Librarian. She spots Miss Chang sitting alone, and, recalling that she was in the
Hospital Wing the other day, walks over. "Miss Chang..? May I have a
word..?"
Cho glances up immediately at
the voice, dark eyes widening a little bit. "Yes, of course." She
closes the book on Potions (seemed to be open in an area talking about sleeping
droughts), "What do you need, Professor?" This particular student has
never really been good at Transformations, so she can't think of a reason that
the Professor might want to speak to her.
Minerva 's grey-green eyes
glance briefly around the library before resuming her stern air. "I
understand you were in the Hospital Wing helping out Madam Pomfrey."
She is concerned about one of her students, and is well aware that he had been
in there.
Cho nods, reaching up to brush
that pesky black lock of hair behind an ear again. "Yes,
Professor. I help there when I don't have classes or Quidditch
practice." She doesn't seem to understand exactly where this is going
quite yet.
Minerva nods.
"Yes. Mr. Potter informed me after I had run into him."
Concern revealed itself in her expression. "When he came in here..how was he acting?" She
is very worried about him of course, and she has a feeling that he has not said
anything to Dumbledore.
Cho looks surprised, though
after a moment she realizes she shouldn't be. "Harry? He came in and said
he was having a headache. I don't think it was too bad, he spoke.. normally." He did seem
nervous, but she has a feeling that wasn't the headache. "Madam Pomfrey was out, so I made him a remedy and he said it was
working before he left."
Minerva gives her a skeptical look. "Are you
sure..?" She doesn't seem to be entirely convinced. Then again, Potter was
one who liked to pretend that things weren't as serious as they really were.
Cho nods her head, continuing
to look at the teacher, even if she can't show her usual smile right now,
"Yes. I told him he could come back any time he has another headache.
Besides that we mainly spoke about Quidditch." Which is understandable when two Seekers are in a room waiting for
a remedy to be ready.
Minerva gave another nod. "Good.
..and I suppose he hasn't come back?" Hopefully he had, but given the fuss that she
and Professor Major had made over him it was highly unlikely.
Cho shakes her head, "No,
Professor." She pauses, and adds, "Not while I was in there at
least." She pauses again, then asks, somewhat tentively, "Is there something more to his headaches,
Professor?" She remembers all the rumors last year about what happened in
his Divination class, thanks to that article mainly; though she never gave it a
second thought.
Minerva doesn't answer for a moment, knowing full well
the answer to that. It didn't make sense to express the true situation, so she
dug around for some vague explanation. "All I will say,
is that they do not do any damage to his mind. He is connected to..." her voice drops off. No,
that wasn't the way to go about it at all. "They are serious, but only at
the time of occurrence. We're all just concerned about his well-being."
She is not satisfied with that explanation either, so she immediately resumes
her stern disposition. Miss Chang was often a very pleasant student to have in
her classes; yet the telling of any information bothered her. "Of course,
you won't mention any of this to him. He hasn't told you anything?"
Cho bites down on her lip for a
moment, then quickly nods, "Of course, I won't mention it. I-- sorry." She offers a weak smile, even with the
stern expression looking down at her. "He hasn't told me anything, after
what happened last year.. We haven't really
spoken." Though they didn't speak very often before the
incident during the Third Task, so she isn't exactly missing much.
"But if he starts having headaches again, I'll come and tell you. I don't
want anything bad to happen to anyone else." Her smile appears again for a
moment, this time sad.
Minerva notices her sad expression and suddenly remembers
last year. Miss Chang had been dance partners with Diggory.
She hadn't thought too much of it then, and she finds herself with not much to
say. "Thank you." She for a
moment lightly puts her arm on your shoulder, in something that could almost be
likened to reassurance. "I would greatly appreciate if you did that for me." for a moment her thin lips twitch slightly, as if
she's debating a smile.
Cho's smile stays where it is
and she nods, somehow managing to keep back any tears that want to form in
still saddened eyes, "I will, Professor." She takes a breath and
glances down at the book that she closed when the conversation started. When
she looks back up, she's regrouped again, and the sad expression has faded for
the most part.
Minerva removes her hand. "Are you feeling all right
yourself, Miss Change?" She asks, and you are surprised at the concern
which has returned to her voice.
Cho blinks, then takes another
breath, "I'm.. doing
fine, Professor." She smiles again, obviously trying to play it down if
she can. (Common thing, isn't it?) "Just a little tired. All the going ons, the Yule Ball coming up.."
Which of course brings happy and sad memories all together
with the events and the dance itself.
Minerva nods her head. "Good, then." She
doesn't seem to be too convinced, but realizes she's been too soft. "Thank
you for your time." She almost smiled again. "I hope to speak with
you again soon," she says, and starts to head out the door
