Doug's 4WD Pix

It all started at the young age of Seventeen when my old man and I went looking for my first car. The local wrecking yard was a good place to start when your on a budget and so began my Subaru ownership with the 1977 Subaru GL Coupe. It may not have been love at first site, but she was a mighty little machine.

The mighty 1600 front wheel drive was on the road and registered for five years. It served me well during this term of my life until I was ready for the next project. So began the 4WD legacy with the purchase of two MY wagons. A 1981 maroon wagon with front corner and side damage, but otherwise good condition and a 1979 beige wagon, very rusty but still drivable and good for parts. Over the last year of the coupe's reign, I began rebuilding the '82.

It's amazing what can be achieved on the farm with an arc welder, oxy acetylene welder and a bit of red dirt! Here's the project with the front corner missing.
With some major help from friends and family, we were finally ready to pass the Subie on to the spray painters for a full external respray.
At last, on the road. As per normal it didn't take long before the windows were tinted, the minghty 'grader' bar and a set of mags were added making the package complete. At least for a stock wagon!
Many a trip did this 4WD take me on, just a couple below and the beach above, from Landcruiser Park, to Fraser Island, it just kept going!!

MORE PAGES COMING SOON !!!

These are just some highlights from my four wheel driving exploits, more to come on the next page!!
