Sometimes it Hurts

(Co-written with Ian Goodman)
It's nearly 6 am,
What will the day bring, will I be surprised?
Seems like my life's a circle, round and round it goes,
No corners to get lost in.
Same routine every day,
Never any change.

Thoughts of yesterday,
Bring me to my feet, bring me to dis-ease.
Memories of the past,
But memories seldom last, sometimes they linger.
Hiding from the day.
Will it go away?

But the sun, won't go away,
Gotta face the day,
Gotta face the world.
It's sometimes cruel,
Sometimes it's wrong,
Sometimes it hurts, just to sing a song.

It's nearly 6 am,
What will the day bring, will I be surprised?
Learned so many lessons,
How tough the world can be, a crazy place to live in.
Waiting for the day.
When it goes away.

We wrote this one back in our high-school days. If I recall it was a commentary on the cruelty of the clique-based high-school social system and the dreary repetitive nature of waking up early in the dark winter mornings, dragging your ass off to waste another day learning nothing.
