Nothing Left
-
Trying to find a new groove to play
Trying to think of something new to say
It's kind of hard today
Writing a song, it's hard to be bold
When every chord brings memories of the songs of old
It's hard to change the mold
-
'Cause no matter what we do
It's been done before
Yeah we try to rebel but
There's nothing left that's new anymore
-
Taking a stand, making a move
Our generation's trying to find something that will prove
That we can make our own groove
Every girl and all of the boys
We're getting tired of playing with our parents' toys
Trying to make a new noise
-
'Cause no matter what we do
It's been done before
Yeah we try to be fresh
There's nothing left to do anymore
GUITAR!
-
Trying to think of something you haven't heard
Looking for new changes and another new word
Along with "Streets at Night," Nothing Left was played live at a "Coffeehouse" evening at Palmer. While "Streets" was a serious commentary on the loneliness of modern society, this song took a nostalgic look at the early days of Rock 'n Roll. It started when I was just jamming on an old standard pattern and the idea came to me to write a tribute or spoof to the days of old.
