In addition there was outcry as a 13-year-old schoolgirl actress (Jodie Foster) costarring as a prostitute. 

 

De Niro's perfomance and the direction of Martin Scorsese make TAXI DRIVER one of the most pivotal films of the 70's... disturbing and endlessly watchable
