Here are some books that I have read and highly recommend. They are a great wealth of information.
In this story Cynthia Moss tells a tale of an elephant family that she has observed and studied for eighteen months. She goes into great detail to help the reader feel like they are actually there watching the elephant family. Martyn Colbeck has taken some wonderful pictures for this book.
Cynthia Moss has been very involved in the preservation of elephants. In this book she tells the tale of one elephant family that she observed and studied for thirteen years. It's amazing to see how a family grows and lives together in this story.
This book is about the last great elephant Tula Hatti. He was one of the largest elephants ever found in the wild. Peter Byrne tells the story of trying to follow this elephant in his daily life.
There are some excellent pictures of elephants in this book.
These two wonderful people wrote a book about what they have done to try to put a stop to the poaching of elephants.
This is a great book that exlpains the theory of how elephants communicate across long distances. It is a must read for any elephant lover.

Another book that I believe to be excellent to read is Elly the Story of Little Big Ears By Cynthia Moss. I have not read this book personally, but I have watched the special on PBS. It is the story of a little elephant that was born with a deformity to his front legs. He could not stand up straight on them. He eventually overcomes this problem. It is a wonderful story. From what I can tell in my research for this book, it is out of print. I'm hoping eventually to be able to get my hands on a copy of this wonderful story of a little elephant.
